HON. RUSSELL M. CLAWGES JR. , is a circuit court judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit. He was appointed Circuit Judge on January 10, 1997, elected to complete the unexpired term in November, 1998, and re-elected to a full term in November, 2000. Prior to serving on the bench, he was a partner in the Morgantown law firm of Furbee, Amos, Webb & Critchfield and served as an adjunct lecturer in trial advocacy at the West Virginia University College of Law. Judge Clawges received his B.A. and J.D. degrees from West Virginia University. HON. FRED L. FOX II was first elected circuit judge in 1970 and served a temporary assignment to the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals from January 1995 to October 1995. Before becoming a circuit judge, he was in the private practice of law from 1967 to 1970. He holds a law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law, and a bachelor's degree from Davis and Elkins College. From 1960 to 1963 and 1968 to 1969 he was an infantry line officer with the United States Marine Corps., earning two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and the Cross of Gallantry. At the West Virginia University College of Law, Judge Fox was a member of the Order of the Coif. HON. JAMES A. MATISH is a circuit court judge of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in West Virginia. He earned his B.S. and J.D. degrees from West Virginia University. HON. JAYMIE GODWIN WILFONG took office as a circuit judge in the Twentieth Judicial Circuit of Randolph County on January 1, 2009. Judge Wilfong graduated from West Virginia University College of Law in 1995, and began practice in Elkins at Cardot Law Offices. She also began teaching part-time at Fairmont State College in 1995, classes in business law, business investments and criminal procedure. She mainly taught classes in the evening at the Randolph County Vocational Center, but she also taught classes at the federal prison in Morgantown and at Huttonsville Correctional Center. In August 2000, Judge Wilfong opened her own law practice, where she concentrated in family law and criminal defense. She worked for a short period of time as a part-time assistant prosecuting attorney in Upshur County. Judge Wilfong was elected as Family Court Judge for Randolph, Tucker and Grant Counties and served in that capacity from 2003 to 2008. MODERATOR - MICHAEL J. ALOI is a partner in the Fairmont law firm of Manchin & Aloi, PLLC, where he practices in the areas of personal injury, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Aloi serves as an adjunct professor at the West Virginia University College of Law and the West Virginia Wesleyan College MBA program. He is past-president of the West Virginia State Bar, and a past-president of the Marion County Bar Association. In 2001, Mr. Aloi was named as "Member of the Year" by the West Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and in 1997 he was named as "Pro Bono Attorney of the Year" by the West Virginia University College of Law Appalachian Center for Law and Public Service. He is a present member of the Board of Governors for the West Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Aloi earned his B.A. degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College and his J.D. degree from West Virginia University.
