ALLEN D. CLARK is a partner at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, and is the former partner-in-charge of the firm's Shanghai office. Mr. Clark works extensively on foreign direct investment in China. He also represents international clients in business and commercial transactions, including structuring, financing and operating investments in the United States. Mr. Clark has extensive experience in commercial litigation, and counsels clients in litigation avoidance and alternative dispute resolution. He is a member of the Washington State China Relations Council (vice president, 2010; Board of Trustees and Executive Committee, 2007-present; general counsel, 2008-present), United States China Business Council, American Chamber of Commerce, Shanghai, and the Washington State (International Section) and American (International Section) bar associations. Mr. Clark earned his B.S. degree, cum laude, from Michigan State University and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. WILLIAM (SKIP) FISHER is of counsel to Perkins Coie LLP. Mr. Fisher's practice focuses on counseling and litigation in the areas of patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyrights, with a niche practice in China IP law. He has represented clients in a variety of industries on various IP matters, including patent and other IP infringement actions, trademark strategy and prosecution, anti-counterfeiting and copyright enforcement, IP infringement and validity opinions, and licensing and technology transfer. Mr. Fisher regularly advises clients on and assists with U.S. and China IP strategy, procurement, risk management, and enforcement. He has represented clients from Taiwan, Mainland China, and Hong Kong, both in Asia and in the U.S. Mr. Fisher previously practiced with an international law firm in Shanghai, China, where his responsibilities included managing litigation and administrative enforcement of IP rights in Asia; counseling clients on IP risk management in Asia, including strategic procurement of IP rights, brand protection and anti-counterfeiting, and IP enforcement; documenting cross-border licenses, technology transfer agreements, and manufacturing contracts; and conducting IP audits and due diligence in connection with cross-border business transactions. He earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, in Chinese from the University of Massachusetts, his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Boston University School of Law and his M.S. degree, with honors, from Northeastern University. Mr. Fisher is a member of the International Trademark Association, Licensing Executives Society and the American Bar Association (SME China IPR Advisory Program). MONICA GIANNI is a partner at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, where she advises clients on business law and federal income taxation, including international taxation and tax-exempt organizations. She is a certified public accountant and an adjunct professor teaching international taxation at the University of Washington's LL.M. program. She earned her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Seattle University, her J.D. degree from the University of Notre Dame and her LL.M. degree from the University of Florida. Ms. Gianni is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association and the Washington Society of CPAs. DANIEL P. HARRIS is a founding member of HarrisMoure, a boutique international law firm with lawyers in Seattle and Qingdao, China, where his practice focuses on assisting U.S. companies in Asia. Mr. Harris is also the lead editor of the multiple-award winning China Law Blog (www.chinalawblog.com). Mr. Harris has written on China for such publications as the Wall Street Journal, Forbes Magazine, and Advertising Age. He has been an international law analyst on CNBC, BBC, ABC, CNN, CBC, and Fox News. Mr. Harris has a B.A. degree from Grinnell College and a J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Indiana University, where he was managing editor of the Law Review. FRASER MENDEL is a shareholder at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, where he focuses his practice on corporate law, with special attention to international transactions and investing into China. Mr. Mendel has extensive experience in the areas of cross-border transactions, direct investment in China and throughout Asia, venture capital investments, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property. Based in China for more than 12 years, he has advised companies on cross-border investments, international corporate law, and structuring cutting-edge investments in Asia. Mr. Mendel co-chairs the firm's China practice and helps lead the international business and trade practice. He is general counsel for the Executive Committee of the Washington State China Relations Council, an advisor to the Chinese Language Language Teachers Association of Washington and a member of the Washington State, King County and American bar associations.
