DOUGLAS G. ANDERSON is a shareholder in the Bothell law firm of Douglas G. Anderson, P.S., where he concentrates his practice in the areas of probate, tax, bankruptcy, commercial contracts, and business formations. Mr. Anderson has lectured on probate, tax, and business issues, and he has also taught at City University. He earned his B.A. degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and his J.D. degree from the University of Oregon. Mr. Anderson is a member of the Washington State and King County bar associations. JUDITH L. ANDREWS focuses her practice on nonprofit corporation law, tax-exempt organizations and public finance. For more than 20 years, she has represented many nonprofit organizations on corporate and tax exemption issues including incorporation and determination of tax-exempt status, legal obligations of directors, organizational structure and roles of board and staff, conversion, merger and affiliation issues, and federal tax-exemption issues. In addition, Ms. Andrews has worked as bond counsel and underwriter's counsel on many special fund revenue bond and nonrecourse revenue bond financings. Many of these bond issues have involved nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organizations. Ms. Andrews is a frequent speaker on nonprofit corporate and federal tax topics at both local and national seminars. She is an adjunct professor at Seattle University School of Law and in the Master of Public Administration program. She also gives workshops on the formation and maintenance of 501(c)(3) organizations, including regular training programs with the Nonprofit Assistance Center in Seattle. She was appointed by the Secretary of State to serve on the Secretary of State's Charities Advisory Council. Ms. Andrews is a member of the Washington State Bar Association (chair, Nonprofit Corporations Committee of the Business Law Section)and the King County Bar Association. She earned her B.A. degree, with academic honors, from Beloit College and her J.D. degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School. HOWARD DONKIN is a tax partner with Jacobson Jarvis & Co., PLLC, with more than 20 years experience in serving the not-for-profit community in the areas of tax return preparation, tax compliance, exemption application, penalty abatement, and tax planning. He is a member of the Washington Society of Certificated Public Accountants (WSCPA), where he served as past chair of the Not-for-Profit Committee, past chair of the NFP Tax Sub-Committee and chair of the Washington Legislation Task Force. Nationally, Mr. Donkin served on the AICPA Task Force preparing comments to the IRS on the redesigned Form 990. He was selected by independent sector to serve on their Electronic Data Initiative Workgroup for Nonprofits, by the AICPA to serve on their Technical Resource Panel and by Tax Analyst to serve on their EO Tax Review Advisory Board. Mr. Donkin is a frequent author and speaker on federal, state and local tax issues. His client list includes arts organization, museums, private foundations, schools and organizations that provide services to children. KAREN DUNN is a manager in the Tax Services Group at Clark Nuber P.S., a CPA and consulting firm located in the Seattle Metropolitan area. Ms. Dunn applies her legal, tax and mediation expertise to issues of consequence to not-for-profit organizations, as well as assisting them in optimizing their operations and fulfilling their charitable purposes. She is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. She was a contributing writer, technical reviewer and editor for the Practical Guide to the Form 990 by Clark Nuber, a treatise published by CCH (2009-2010). Ms. Dunn earned her B.S. degree in accounting from Brooklyn College, her J.D. degree from Fordham University and her Masters of Law in Taxation degree at New York University. BRIAN H. KRIKORIAN is a sole practitioner in Seattle, where he practices in state and federal trial and appellate courts, and has had a consistent record of success in all aspects of litigation from pre-complaint settlement negotiations to post-trial appellate work. Mr. Krikorian has significant trial experience in his areas of practice, including solo jury trials, and large commercial arbitration matters. He is a frequent lecturer on numerous areas of the law, including insurance bad faith, legal ethics, legal malpractice, state and federal civil practice. Mr. Krikorian also is a part time instructor at Edmonds Community College. He is a member of the State Bar of California, the Washington State Bar Association, and is admitted to practice in all federal district courts in California, the Western District of Washington, and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Krikorian earned his B.A. degree at the University of California at Los Angeles and his J.D. degree at Southwestern University School of Law, where he received the American Jurisprudence Award - Criminal Law and was on the National Dean's List. He was an extern law clerk to Justice Leon Thompson, California Court of Appeal. DENNIS J. SHANLIAN is one of the founding members of the law firm of Hanis Irvine Prothero PLLC. Mr. Shanlian's practice focuses on business and financial transactions and planning for their tax consequences. He assists clients on a wide variety of areas including formation of entities and joint ventures; preparation and negotiation of contracts involving investors and management; resolution of corporate governance issues; executive and deferred compensation and incentive stock plans; expansion through franchising; private placement of securities and commercial loans; transfer and license of technology, merger, acquisition, reorganization or dissolution of companies; and asset protection strategies with sophisticated estate planning. Mr. Shanlian is a certified public accountant and certified financial planner. His court admissions include Washington and U.S. Tax Court. He earned his B.A. degree, M.B.A. degree and Master of Laws (in taxation) degree from the University of Washington and his J.D. degree from Seattle University School of Law.
