CHRISTOPHER M. HENDERSON is an associate with the Dussault Law Group, where he practices in the areas of elder law, estate planning, guardianship, benefits advocacy and probate. Prior to joining Dussault Law Group, Mr. Henderson was a corporate associate in the Seattle office of a global law firm focused on emerging technologies. While there, he also worked as a software developer and consultant working closely with those with disabilities to test the accessibility of software programs, web content and hardware devices. Mr. Henderson completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University and received his J.D. degree from the University of Washington School of Law. As a law student, Mr. Henderson worked closely with Professor Paul Miller on a symposium studying the rights of the disabled on a global scale and edited an issue of the Washington Law Review documenting these efforts. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the Seattle King County Bar Association, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. JANET L. SMITH received a Bachelor's degree from Pomona College and a Law degree from the University of Washington School of Law in 1983. She received a Certificate in Gerontology from the University of Washington in 2000 and completed the University of Washington Law School Professional Mediation Skills Training Program in 2008. In 1997, Ms. Smith was a founder of Elder Care Solutions, Inc., providing geriatric care management, consulting, and guardianship services through 2005. Geriatric care management and guardianship clients included persons of all ages with various disabilities such as alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, traumatic brain injury, psychiatric disabilities, heart disease, and terminal cancer. Ms. Smith is on the Guardian ad Litem registry for King County. She has served as a trained facilitator for an alzheimer's disease caregivers' support group, and is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Washington State Bar Association (Elder Law Section and Alternate Dispute Resolution Section), The King County Bar Association (Guardianship and Elder Law Section), The Washington Mediation Association, and the Alzheimer's Association. Ms. Smith previously served on the Board of the Western Regional Chapter of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers. D. DOUGLAS TITUS is a sole practitioner in Seattle, Washington, where he practices in the areas of taxation, IRS audits, property tax appeals, tax planning, business planning and elder care. He is a past instructor on graduate tax classes in the accounting department for Central Washington University. Mr. Titus earned his B.A. degree from Whitman College; his J.D. degree, with honors, and his M.A. degree from the University of South Dakota; and his LL.M. degree, in taxation, from the University of Washington. He is a member of the King County (Business Law and Taxation sections), Washington State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association, the Washington LEGALS and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. BARBARA A. WEST is an attorney with VJ&G. Her areas of concentration include estate planning, elder law, guardianship, probate, trusts and estates litigation. Before joining VJ&G, she was a partner at Reed Longyear Malnati & Ahrens PLLC and Short, Cressman & Burgess, PLLC, where she co-chaired the Family Law, Life and Estate Planning Department. Ms. West received her B.A. degree, in english, from The University of Connecticut and her J.D. degree from Seattle University School of Law. Ms. West served as chair of the WSBA Elder Law Section (2002-2003) and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Washington Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She has served in various capacities on the Executive Committee of the King County Bar Association Guardianship and Elder Law Section, including serving as the chair of the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Committee of the KCBA Guardianship and Elder Law Section in 2001-2002. She has been on the faculty of numerous continuing education programs focused on guardianship, elder law and estate planning matters.
