A. CHAD ALLRED is a partner with Ellis Li & McKinstry, PLLC, where, in addition to estate and trust litigation, his broad litigation experience includes claims for securities fraud, racketeering, misappropriation of trade secrets, business interference, franchise violations, breach of contract, unjust enrichment, breach of fiduciary duty, toxic torts, campaign finance violations, wrongful death, and condemnation. He also has particular experience in proceedings under the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction and in judgement collection. Mr. Allred earned his B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Abilene Christian University and his J.D. degree from the University of Texas, with the Dean's Achievement Award. He is admitted to practice in the state of Washington; and before the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit; and the U.S. District Court, Western District of Washington. CARL J. CARLSON is the founding principal of Carlson & Dennett, P.S., where for the past 15 years, he and his firm have emphasized trust and estate litigation, representing investors, brokerage firms, stockbrokers, and financial advisors in securities-related claims. He writes and lectures extensively on trust and estate litigation, and investor litigation. Mr. Carlson is a graduate of Stanford University and earned his J.D. degree from Stanford Law School. He has been a member of the King County Bar Association Board of Trustees (1997-2000) and the Washington State Bar Association Board of Governors (2001-2004). Mr. Carlson is a FINRA (formerly NASD) arbitrator, hearing securities industry disputes and customer claims against brokerage firms, and is a member of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association. BRUCE R. MOEN limits his practice to the administration of estates and litigation related to estates. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Washington and his J.D. degree from the University of Oregon. Mr. Moen has lectured previously on trusts and estates, estate litigation, and has written chapters of the Washington State Bar Association Desk Book on Family Law regarding guardianships and guardianship litigation. He has been quoted as a "commentator" by the Washington State Supreme Court in the opinion of In Re Estate of Toth, 138 Wn.2d 650 (1999) and was referred to as "an acknowledged expert in the field of the administration of trusts, guardianships, and estates," by the Court of Appeals in the unpublished opinion of In Re Estate of Sullivan, Washington State Court of Appeals, Division I, Docket No. 49266-7-I, February 13, 2004. Mr. Moen is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. RANDOLPH O. PETGRAVE III is a partner in the Seattle firm of Petgrave & Petgrave, PLLC. He earned his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point; his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Gonzaga University; and an LL.M. from the University of Washington. Mr. Petgrave has since focused his practice on estate planning, probate and probate litigation, and civil litigation. He has served for over 10 years with the Washington State Bar Association as a bar examiner, drafting wills and trusts, and ethics questions. Mr. Petgrave also serves the Bar Association as a hearing officer presiding over attorney misconduct hearings. ERIC B. WATNESS is a retired court commissioner and recently joined JAMS as a neutral providing mediation, arbitration and special master services. For 16 years leading up to his retirement in July 2011, he served as a constitutional court commissioner for King County Superior Court in the Ex Parte/Probate and Juvenile Department. Prior to assuming his duties with King County, Commissioner Watness maintained a private practice in Seattle for 12 years, concentrating on general family law, guardianship, and probate matters. As a private practitioner, he represented guardianship and adoption agencies, litigants in probate and guardianship, and family law proceedings, as well as serving on the guardian ad litem list for King County. Commissioner Watness also previously served on the staff of the Washington State Attorney General's Office, representing DSHS. He earned his B.S. degree from Portland State University and his J.D. degree from Willamette University School of Law.
