December 16 - Olympia CARTER W. HICK is a member of the Connolly, Tacon & Meserve law firm, where his practice concentrates on workers' compensation and personal injury. He was an extern for the Hon. John Jelderks, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the District of Oregon; Assistant Attorney General for the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries; the Deputy City Prosecutor for the city of Albany; Oregon, an associate editor for the Willamette Journal of International Law and Dispute Resolution; and the author of the "Indian Gaming Regulatory Act: Why Tribes Can Build Casinos Off the Reservation," 10 Gaming Law Review 110 (2006). CHRISTENSEN is a partner with the law firm of Messina Bulzomi Christensen, where his areas of practice include medical negligence, government supervision and severe motor vehicle collisions, including a recent $3 million settlement in a trucking case and $3.5 million for a negligent roadway design and maintenance case. For the past eight years, he has been selected by his peers as one of Washington State's "Super Lawyers." Mr. Christensen is a member of the National Million Dollars Advocates Forum, which is limited to trial lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skill, experience and excellence by achieving a trial verdict, award or settlement of one million dollars or more, and also was recently voted as one of Washington's top plaintiff personal injury lawyers. He served as an assistant attorney general for the state of Washington from 1989 to 1994, representing the Department of Corrections and the Department of Labor and Industries. Mr. Christensen was recently elected as a trustee of the Tacoma Pierce County Bar Association and chairs the Judicial Qualifications Committee. He was one of the leading attorneys for Innocence Project Northwest and succeeded in overturning the convictions of three wrongfully convicted men. Mr. Draper has secured large settlements from various local governments for civil rights violations and secured a six-figure settlement on behalf of two African American customers who were discriminated against by an international retailer. He has appeared in Washington State Superior Courts in King, Pierce, Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom, Kitsap, Jefferson, Pacific, Lewis, Grant, Douglas, Okanagon, Klickitat and Spokane counties.
