ROSS D. JACOBSON is of counsel to the law firm of Williams Kastner, where he practices in the areas of business mergers, business acquisitions, business design and structure, business transactions and real estate transactions. He has lectured previously on his areas of practice. Mr. Jacobson earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Washington. He is a member of the East King County (past vice president, past president, former chairman of the Business Law Section) and the King County bar associations and the Washington State Bar Association (member, Business Law and Real Estate sections). MARK MITCHELL is the director of Valuation Services at Clothier & Head and has almost 20 years of experience in the valuation and financial consulting fields. His expertise extends to the valuation of business interests and intangible assets for tax purposes, transaction and financing analysis, strategic planning, financial and regulatory compliance and dispute resolution. Mr. Mitchell has also provided expert witness testimony before federal and state district courts, bankruptcy court and the U.S. Tax Court. He has given lectures and presentations on a variety of valuation-related topics and has been published in trade and industry journals. Mr. Mitchell is a member of the Association of Investment Management and Research and the American Society of Appraisers, holding the designations of Chartered Financial Analyst and Accredited Senior Appraiser. He earned his B.S. degree in economics and systems analysis and mathematical sciences and his M.B.A. degree in finance from Southern Methodist University. EUGENIE D. RIVERS is an attorney with the law firm Rivers Business Law, Inc., who offers a wide range of legal services to assist entrepreneurs, business owners and real estate investors fund and grow their ventures, including private placements, equity incentive plans, and real estate finance. Ms. Rivers provides practical legal and business advice in the areas of strategic entity structuring, equity and debt securities offerings, real estate LLCs and TIC transactions, executive compensation, business purchase and sales, and commercial finance transactions. Before joining Carson & Noel, Ms. Rivers had 16 years of legal experience, and was a corporate finance partner at Davis Wright Tremaine in Seattle and the founder and president of Rivers Business Law, Inc. Ms. Rivers earned her J.D. degree from the University of Washington School of Law and her B.S. degree from California State University at Sacramento. She is a member of the Washington Bar Association, the Association of Women Attorneys with Real Experience (treasurer) and the Executive Network of Seattle (Membership and Programs committees) and is past general counsel and board member of the Northwest Entrepreneur Network. JAYE LYNN SCHNEIDER is a principal with Schneider Law Firm, P.S., where her practice focuses on closely-held businesses, from start-up formation through business growth to mergers and acquisitions, commercial and otherwise complex real estate and commercial closing services. Ms. Schneider is a frequent lecturer in the areas of business acquisitions and commercial escrow. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of Puget Sound and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law. Ms. Schneider is a member of the Washington State and King County bar associations and the Commercial and Investment Broker's Association. SUZANNE J. THOMAS is a partner in the law firm of K&L Gates LLP, where she practices in the areas of labor and employment law. She has previously lectured annually and taught for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, where she had presented numerous CLEs. Ms. Thomas is an adjunct professor at Seattle University School of Law, where she teaches an employment survey course. Her other areas of expertise are advising lawyers and firms on ethics issues and she also served as an expert on ethics issues. Ms. Thomas earned her B.A. degree from the University of Washington and her J.D. degree from the University of Michigan. She is a past trustee for the King County Labor and Employment Law Section and served on the Planning Committee of the Pacific Coast Labor Conference. Ms. Thomas is a member of the Washington State Bar Association (member, Labor and Employment Section), the Board of Trustees for the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, general counsel and board member for the Alki Foundation, the Chamber's political affiliate, and a trustee for the King County Bar Foundation.
