JAMES M. BROWN is an attorney with Phillips Krause & Brown. His practice focuses on elder law which includes estate planning, Medicaid planning and qualification, preparation of wills, trusts (including special needs trusts), durable powers of attorney and other documents, probate and guardianship. Mr. Brown has practiced elder law since 1981. Mr. Brown is a frequent speaker at continuing education programs for lawyers, as well as community education programs about the law. He is an adjunct professor of elder law at the Seattle University School of Law where he teaches elder law to students studying to obtain the J.D. degree. Mr. Brown has served as a professional guardian for a number of severely incapacitated persons and as a member of trust advisory committees for other individuals. He also serves on the Ethics Committee for Grays Harbor Community Hospital, where he often answers elder law, end of life, guardianship and informed consent questions by health care providers and participates in ethics conferences regarding current patients. Mr. Brown has written numerous papers and materials for legal education seminars and community seminars on elder law and other presentations. He is licensed in both Washington and California. Mr. Brown is a Certified Professional Guardian for the Washington Supreme Court. He earned his B.A. degree from the University of Washington and his J.D. degree from Western State University College of Law. Mr. Brown is member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), the Washington Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (WAELA) (Board Member 2006 - present, vice president 2007, president elect 2008, president 2009), the American Association for Justice, the Washington State Association for Justice (former member Board of Governors, former member Jury Instructions Committee, former member Judicial Relations Committee), the Washington State Bar Association (former member Board of Bar Examiners, former member Law School Liaison Committee), the Western Washington Trial Lawyers for Victims' Rights (president, 2000 - present), the Grays Harbor Bar Association (president, 1990 - 1991), the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association. CARLA CALOGERO is an attorney with the Seattle law firm of Aiken, St. Louis & Siljeg, P.S. Her practice focuses on guardianship, elder and special needs law; probates and trusts; fiduciary responsibilities; benefits advocacy; estate, advance care, long-term care and end-of-life planning; and administration and litigation related to those matters. She is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, King County Bar Association and National Association of Elder Law Attorneys. She currently serves on the Board of the Guardianship and Elder Law Section of the King County Bar Association and volunteers at the King County Elder Law Clinic, Greenwood Neighborhood Clinic, Washington First Responders Wills Clinic and the Loren Miller Bar Association Estate Planning Clinic. Ms. Calogero graduated from Seattle University School of Law, cum laude, in 2009. She also holds a Master's degree in Bioethics from the University of Washington. ANDREA LEE focuses her legal practice on estate planning, estate administration and elder law since her graduation from the University of Washington School of Law in 2003. However, she has just recently evolved from being a traditional elder law and estate planning attorney into being a life care planner. In addition to practicing elder law and life care planning, she has served as a volunteer CASA, representing children's interest in court proceedings and as a refugee advocate, focusing on the rights of victims of trafficking. Ms. Lee is currently a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, the Washington State Bar Association, and King and Pierce County bar associations. She has been an invited speaker on the topic of estate planning and life care planning for the Washington Chapter of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, and for various local community groups. NANCY LEE has been in practice for two years, focusing primarily on elder law as well as Social Security disability. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she was an engineering manager at The Boeing Company for 22 years. Her father, who was a local attorney, instilled in her a lifelong love of the law, which led her to graduate from Seattle University School of Law with honors in 2008. Ms. Lee joined Rose Law Office shortly thereafter, sharing a common mission to serve the senior members of our communities, as well as the disabled. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Washington Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and is a volunteer for the WSBA sponsored first responders will clinic for firefighters and law enforcement.
