MARK D. KIMBALL has practiced in Bellevue for 27 years as principal of a six-member firm, MDK Law Associates, emphasizing corporate, commercial and property law, and consulting in matters involving federal and international taxation. He is an adjunct professor of law at Etvos Lorand University and has instructed a property law course for escrow (L.P.O.) candidates taking the Washington licensing examination and has served as a law school guest lecturer at Seattle University School of Law. He also presents and has presented at conferences and continuing education events of the Escrow Association of Washington and the Washington State Bar Association, and at legal and political science academic conferences in the United States, Latin America and Europe. Mr. Kimball also served as a Washington state law examiner, hosted a weekly radio talk show on KKNW, Seattle's AM CNN affiliate, and taught a course on business law. His research and writings include topics in international and domestic tax policy, and international commercial law. Recent publications include "Context & Structure: Historical Institutionalism and Analysis of Cuba's Economic & Legal Reforms," and "Synthesizing Legal-Philosophical Referents and Rational Choice Analysis in Tax Policy Adoption and Change: A Proposal on the Relevance of Historical Institutionalism in Comparative Analysis." Mr. Kimball is admitted to practice in Washington and New York, and has been board-certified as a professional guardian (B.C.P.G.). He earned his J.D. and LL.M. degrees from the University of Washington and is currently working toward a Ph.D. in tax policy. Mr. Kimball was recently recognized as a Washington Top Attorney in corporate and tax law by Washington CEO magazine and in Seattle Met magazine. DAVID J. LENCI is a partner in the Seattle office of K&L Gates LLP. He is an experienced litigator who has represented clients from both the public sector and the private sector in complex civil litigation and appeals for more than 30 years in state and federal court. Mr. Lenci's practice emphasizes business litigation, including intellectual property, unfair competition and other business torts and securities litigation. He was a federal prosecutor with the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice for more than five years and served three years as the chief civil litigator for the Snohomish County Prosecutor's Office. Mr. Lenci has served as a mediator, an arbitrator and pro tem judge. He also has volunteered as a fee dispute arbitrator with the Washington State Bar Association. Mr. Lenci earned his B.A. degree from Dartmouth College and his J.D. degree, with high honors, from the University of Washington School of Law. STEVEN D. ROBINSON is a shareholder in the Seattle law firm of Karr Tuttle Campbell. Before entering private practice, Mr. Robinson served as an aide to Speaker Thomas S. Foley. Mr. Robinson's practice emphasis is civil disputes, with a focus on tort, insurance and commercial litigation. Admitted to practice law in 1982, he has been a member of the firm since 1986 and was a member of the firm's board of directors and management committee from 1995 to 1997. Mr. Robinson has handled a broad range of litigation in federal and state courts in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. He has tried numerous jury cases, mandatory and uninsured motorist arbitrations, and labor grievance proceedings. He is a member of the Washington State and American bar associations, and the Idaho State Bar. Mr. Robinson is the former editor of DeNovo, a publication of the Washington State Bar Association, and served on the editorial board of the American Bar Association's Barrister magazine. He has been a speaker on litigation matters at numerous legal education seminars. His published articles include: "Defense Discovery in Products Liability Cases" and "Media Management in High Profile Cases." Among his published appellate cases are: Walker v. State of Washington, 121 Wn.2d 214, 848 P.2d 721 (1993) and Birchler v. Castello Land Co., 133 Wn.2d 106, 942 P.2d 968 (1997). Mr. Robinson earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Gonzaga University and J.D. degree from the University of Idaho College of Law (executive editor, Idaho Law Review, 1981-82). Mr. Robinson serves as a volunteer at the Seattle Emergency Housing Service and is a Cub Scout leader.
