RAYMOND J. DEARIE is the principal lawyer in the Dearie Law Group, P.S., in Seattle. He earned his B.A. degree, with honors, from the State University of New York at Oswego. During and following college, Mr. Dearie left New York City where he was born and raised, and found his way out West where he worked in some of our Nation's glorious national parks, including Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska, Mount Rainier National Park, Death Valley National Park and Yellowstone National Park where he worked for six years. Through his westerly journeys, he earned his J.D. degree from the University of Montana in 1997 (Law Review). Following law school, Mr. Dearie clerked for Chief Judge Frederick J. Scullin, Jr., in the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York. Following his clerkship, Mr. Dearie worked as a deputy prosecuting attorney for the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for five years. He was named Prosecutor of the Year in 2002-2003. After leaving the prosecutor's office, Mr. Dearie commenced private practice as an insurance defense attorney. Gradually, he transitioned his practice away from defending corporations and insurance companies to representing plaintiffs. In 2008, Mr. Dearie founded the Dearie Law Group, P.S., where he exclusively represents injured persons in a variety of different personal injury claims. He was selected as a Rising Star from 2006-2009 and a Super Lawyer from 2010-2011. Mr. Dearie has tried numerous cases in both State and Federal Court, including one of the largest sexual abuse jury verdicts in the State of Washington ( C.M.J. v. Kleinfelder ). He has also settled several recent cases in excess of $1,000,000 shortly before trial, including Brewster v. Doe , et al., (Dram Shop), Jacobson v. Doe, et al., (Premises Liability), and Newman v. King County (the largest multi-million dollar settlement against King County Metro in its history ($7,000,000 settlement in January 2010). Recently, Mr. Dearie was hired as co-counsel in Harris v. King County Sheriff's Office, which resulted in a $10,000,000 settlement during the third week of trial in Pierce County Superior Court (January 2011). ELIOT M. HARRIS is an attorney in the Seattle office of Sedgwick LLP. Mr. Harris is a litigator, with a focus on mass torts, product liability, insurance coverage, and catastrophic personal injury. His past successes include favorable results in numerous high-profile cases, many times by outright dismissal. In addition to his trial practice, Mr. Harris assists as coordinating council for various national clients involved in toxic tort litigation throughout the United States. He is a regular volunteer at the Greenwood Legal Clinic in Seattle and has been named as a Rising Star for 2010 by Washington Law & Politics magazine. Mr. Harris is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the King County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute.
CHRIS R. YOUTZ is a partner in the Seattle firm of Sirianni Youtz Spoonemore, where his main areas of practice are business and commercial litigation. Mr. Youtz earned his B.I.E. degree from Auburn University, his M.B.A. degree from George Washington University and his J.D. degree from the University of Virginia. He has spoken at seminars and CLEs on federal rules of procedure, depositions, and trial practice and technology law. Mr. Youtz is a member of the King County (member, sections on International Law and Litigation), Washington State (member, sections on Trial Practice and International Law) and American (member, Section of Litigation, Committee on Federal Practice) bar associations. He is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth and Ninth Circuits; the Washington and U.S. District Court, Western (member) and Eastern Districts of Washington; the U.S. District Court, Western District of Texas; and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California. He was also chair of the Federal Bar Association's Electronic Discovery Task Force.
