LINDA CHAIM is the director of special education at Franklin Northwest Supervisory Union. Ms. Chaim is a frequent presenter in her areas of expertise and has given presentations on such topics as: learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum disorders, integrating services for children and families, and adapting curriculum for developmental disabilities. She received her master's degree, in educational psychology, from McGill University. Ms. Chaim received a certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders from the University of Vermont (VTRAP Program). She also completed the Snelling Center for Government Leadership Program. Ms. Chaim is a member of the State of Vermont Human Rights Commission Developmental Services and the Council for Exceptional Children. She received the Vermont Special Education Director of the Year in 2000 and 2001, and the Community Partner Award from NCSS Developmental Services. NICHOLAS G. MICHAEL is an attorney with the Law Office of Nicholas G. Michael Langhorne, PA. He has maintained a general law practice representing individuals in a variety of legal issues, such as special education, real estate transactions, personal injury, criminal defense and Social Security disability. Mr. Michael received his B.S. degree from La Salle University and his J.D. degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He was an adjunct professor at Castleton State College in Castleton, Vermont, where he taught constitutional law. He also was an instructor for the Civil Liberties course. Mr. Michael is a member of the Vermont Bar Association and chairman of the Pike County, Pennsylvania, Tri-Centennial Constitution Celebration. GEORGIANA O. MIRANDA is an attorney with McKee, Giuliani and Cleveland. She graduated from the Notre Dame of Maryland University and St. John's University Law School. She is admitted to the New York Bar; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit; the U.S. District Court, Southern and Eastern districts of New York; the Vermont Bar; and the U.S. District Court of Vermont. She has previously served as assistant district attorney for Queens County, New York; assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York; and assistant attorney general for Vermont. She is a member of the NSBA Council of School Attorneys and has presented nationwide. Her areas of practice focus on education, special education and labor law as well as administrative law.
