October 27 - Norfolk NATHAN R. OLANSEN is an attorney with The Rack Law Firm, P.C., where his practice is focused on estate planning, individual and entity tax planning, asset protection, and a variety of related transactional matters. He is experienced in the drafting and implementation of estate planning documents and assists clients with the administration of trusts and estates, whether through the probate process of private trusts. Mr. Olansen also has extensive experience in trust, estate, partnership, corporate and private foundation income tax compliance and preparation. He provides legal advice on business entity start-ups, mergers and acquisitions, corporate re-organizations and family business succession planning. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar (Board of Governors for the Trusts and Estates Section), the Hampton Roads Estate Planning Council, and the Hampton Roads Tax Forum. Mr. Olansen has also lectured for Virginia Continuing Legal Education, National Business Institute and other professional and community groups. Prior to earning his law degree, Mr. Pascucci practiced as a Certified Public Accountant where he provided auditing and tax services to individuals, public charities and privately held corporations. Mr. Pascucci earned his B.A. degree from Gordon College and his J.D. degree from Marshall-Wythe School of Law, College of William and Mary. He is admitted to the Virginia State Bar. M. POWELL PETERS is a member of the Virginia Beach law firm of Wolcott Rivers Gates, where his practice is focused in the areas of trusts, estates, elder law, family businesses, charitable giving and tax-exempt organizations. In addition to the private practice of law, Mr. Peters' professional experience includes five years as a tax consultant to Ernest & Young and two years as the chief financial officer and general counsel for a publicly held financial institution. Mr. Peters earned his B.S. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his M.B.A. and J.D. degrees from Wake Forest University. FERRIS established the Williamsburg law firm of Ferris & Associates, P.C. in 1993. A licensed continuing education speaker and frequent author, Mr. Ferris has lectured and written extensively on estate and tax planning subjects during his more than 30 year career in this field of law. He is published in the Virginia State Bar Journal and has co-written three books on estate and trust planning, "LEGACY," "GENERATIONS," and "LOVE, MONEY, CONTROL." He is a member of many professional organizations including the Peninsula Estate Planning Council, the Society of Financial Service Professionals, and the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys. He is a member of the Virginia State and District of Columbia bars and the Ohio State Bar Association. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court. He earned his B.S. degree from University of Dayton, his J.D. degree from Ohio Northern University School of Law, and his LL.M. degree in Taxation from Boston University School of Law. He also earned his CLU, ChFC, and Master of Science in Financial Services credentials from the American College. MELANIE M. LEE is the owner of Lee Law Office, PLLC. Ms. Lee concentrates her practice in the areas of trusts and estates, estate administration, and business law. Ms. Lee has received certification for the proper use of IRA and structured retirement accounts in estate planning. She frequently writes and speaks on the importance of estate planning and issues concerning pre-death needs and estate administration.
