MARK E. KELLOGG is a partner in the Springfield law firm of Becker, Kellogg & Berry, P.C., and has engaged in the private practice of law for more than 25 years. His main emphases of practice are taxation (planning, tax return preparation and transactional works; audits and criminal investigations; and tax, bankruptcy and federal court litigations) and estates and trusts (planning and document preparation, estate administration and fiduciary litigation). Mr. Kellogg was an estate tax attorney and program analyst for the Internal Revenue Service, and an adjunct professor and a lecturer in law at the George Mason University School of Law. He earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Florida and his Master of Law degree from Georgetown University. Mr. Kellogg is a member of the Fairfax County and American bar associations, and the Virginia State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar and The Florida Bar. He is qualified (and has argued cases before each of the following except the United States Supreme Court) to practice before the Tax Court, the Maryland and Virginia Federal District courts, the Virginia Federal District Bankruptcy Court, the Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and the Supreme Court of the United States. RICHARD MAYBERRY is the principal of the Mayberry Law Firm in McLean, Virginia. His areas of expertise include estate planning, estate administration and elder law. In his law practice, Mr. Mayberry assists families with wills, living trusts, powers of attorney, probate, special needs trusts, nursing home related matters, such as financing long-term care, qualification/contesting government benefits, and end of life issues, and attendant income, and gift and estate tax issues. He also has advised foundations and other tax-exempt organizations. Mr. Mayberry is a regular speaker throughout Northern Virginia and has taught continuing professional education seminars to professionals such as the Virginia Society of CPAs, National Association of Realtors (senior real estate specialist certification), and the Northern Virginia Insurance and Financial Advisors Association and bar associations on technical aspects of the law. The workshops have qualified students for continuing education credits for lawyers, accountants, real estate agents, and financial professionals. Mr. Mayberry graduated from the George Washington University Law School. He is past chair of the Estate Planning and Probate Committee and former board member and officer of the District of Columbia Bar. YAHNE MIORINI is a solo practitioner. She practices in the areas of estate planning, international estate planning, estate and trust administration, and elder law. Ms. Miorini is licensed in Virginia, New York and the District of Columbia. Prior to coming to the United States, she worked in a Paris, France law firm for five years. She has lectured on the areas of estate planning and estate and trust administration for several business professional groups. She has spoken at seminars such as "What You Should Know About Advance Direction to Avoid the Schiavo Tragedy," January 2006, Women's Bar Association of D.C., and "Making a Difference: Fighting Domestic Violence," June 2004, moderator, and "The Financial Aspect of Elder Care - Case Management," October 2003, for The Women's Bar Association Tax and Business Forum. Ms. Miorini is the author of "The Challenges of Caring for our Elderly Parents," November 2003; "Caring for our Elderly Parents," June 2003; "New D.C. Estate Tax Law Changes Prove Significant for Married Residents," March/April 2003; and Raising the Bar, Women's Bar Association of D.C. She is a member of the Fairfax and American (member, Estates, Trust and Probate Section) bar associations, and the Women's Bar Association of D.C. Ms. Miorini earned her J.D. degree from the University of Sorbonne, France, and her LL.M. degree from George Washington University.
