EVAN H. FARR, Certified Elder Law Attorney, is the principal attorney of the Farr Law Firm, an elder law firm in Fairfax, Virginia dedicated to helping protect seniors and their families by preserving dignity, quality of life, and financial security. A nationally renowned author and CLE speaker, Mr. Farr is well known in the field of elder law as an expert on medicaid asset protection, and has educated tens of thousands of attorneys across the country through speaking and writing for numerous national legal organizations, including ALI-ABA, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the National Business Institute, and the National Constitution Center, as well as his own Elder Law Institute for Training and Education (ELITE), through which he coaches and trains other elder law attorneys around the country, providing them with specialized software and practice-enhancement systems such as the Living Trust Plus™ Asset Protection System used by dozens of attorneys across the nation. VALERIE B. GEIGER is the principal of The Geiger Firm, LLC. Ms. Geiger has been practicing in the field of elder law since 2004, but working directly with seniors since she was in high school. Her practice focuses in the areas of Medicaid planning, estate planning, to include durable powers of attorneys and advance medical directives, supplemental needs trusts, probate and guardianships, both contested and uncontested. Ms. Geiger is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Virginia Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Wills, Trusts and Estates Section of the Fairfax County Bar Association, the Estates, Trusts and Probate Section of the District of Columbia Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She served four years on the Probate Division of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia's Fiduciary Panel where she accepted court appointments in the capacity as counsel to the ward, guardian ad litem, personal representative of estate, conservator for an incapacitated adult and guardian for a minor's property. Ms. Geiger is also a founding board member of the group “Professionals Serving Older Adults” which provides a monthly forum in Virginia for education and networking for senior serving professionals. She received her B.A. from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania where she double majored in psychology and sociology. She went on to receive her J.D. degree from Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware where she participated in and was a board member of the trial advocacy team. She is licensed to practice in DC, Virginai, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. YAHNE MIORINI is the founder and principal of Miorini Law PLLC, a law firm based in Northern Virginia. She practices law in the areas of estate planning, international estate planning, estate and trust administration, elder law, international tax, special needs planning, and veterans' benefits. Ms. Miorini is licensed in Virginia, New York and the District of Columbia, and she is accredited by the U.S. Veterans Administration. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and its Virginia chapter, and she serves as secretary of the McLean Estate Planning Council. Ms. Miorini has served as a co-chair of the Wills, Trusts, and Estates Section of the Fairfax Bar Association and was named Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year in 2006 by the Fairfax Bar Association. Additionally, she is a board member of PRS, Inc. (Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services). Ms. Miorini is a recurring author of articles about elder law that are published in Fairfax Woman magazine. She also is a recurring author of articles about wills, trusts, estates, and taxes for a French-language periodical called La Plume that is published by the Washington Accueil Association (WAA). Ms. Miorini has lectured on the areas of estate planning, and estate and trust administration for several business professional groups. She earned her J.D. degree from the University of La Sorbonne, in Paris, France and her LL.M. degree from the George Washington University Law School. MARGARET A. O'REILLY is a partner in the Fairfax law firm of Cossa, Gray and O'Reilly, PLC, where she brings more than 30 years of legal experience, with the last 12 years concentrating in the estate planning and elder law fields. Her practice includes representing clients in a variety of matters, such as estate planning, elder law, estate administration, benefits eligibility, healthcare decision making, guardianship probate, long term care planning options, assisted living and other congregate community contracts, long term care insurance coverage, and nursing home issues. Ms. O'Reilly has lectured to various professional, legal and community groups on her areas of practice. She is certified as an elder law attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, and has been elected to the Council of Advanced Practitioners of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Ms. O'Reilly is a former adjunct professor of health care law at Suffolk University in Boston, and also taught trusts and estates at Northeastern University School of Law in Boston. She is admitted to practice in Virginia and Massachusetts; and before the Supreme Court of Virginia, the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, the U.S. District Court (District of Massachusetts) and the U.S. Court of Appeals (1st Circuit). Ms. O'Reilly is a life fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia chapter. She earned her B.A. degree from Duke University and her J.D. degree from Northeastern University. CHARLES E. SAMUELS is a member of Samuels Law Firm in Richmond, Virginia. He primarily practices in the areas of Social Security, workers' compensation, short and long-term private disability insurance, Virginia retired disability appeal, black lung, ERISA, veterans' appeals, and federal civil service. Mr. Samuels has, for many years, conducted continuing legal education seminars on Social Security disability issues. He earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Richmond. Mr. Samuels is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives.
