TIMOTHY D. FRESHLY is a senior associate with Shaheen & Shaheen, P.C., where he practices in the areas of residential real estate and estate planning. He is an officer and associate vice president with the firm, and is responsible for day-to-day management of the main office in Richmond and oversight of the Virginia Beach office, where he develops and implements firm management policies including insurance coverage, payroll oversight, and human resources. Mr. Freshly is a frequent instructor to professional groups on his main areas of practice. He earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Allegheny College and his J.D. degree from the University of Richmond School of Law. Mr. Freshly is a member of the Virginia, American and Henrico County bar associations. JEFFREY A. MAYNARD is an associate with Troutman Sanders LLP, in Virginia Beach, where he devotes his practice to real estate transactions and matters of land use and zoning. In his years of practice, Mr. Maynard has focused exclusively on real estate law and has assisted clients with the development, sale, financing, acquisition and foreclosure of a variety of projects, including residential developments, office buildings, shopping centers, and mixed-use developments. In the last few years, Mr. Maynard has also gained significant experience with foreclosures, loan workouts, and loan sale transactions, including the title issues unique to those areas. He is a frequent speaker for various professional organizations and has written many articles on subjects relative to his areas of expertise. Mr. Maynard earned his B.A. degree from the College of William and Mary, and graduated from the T.C. Williams School of Law, at the University of Richmond, where he earned his J.D. degree. He is a member of the American Bar Association (chairman, Real Property Section Committee on Land Use and Zoning); the Virginia State Bar (area representative for Real Property Section); and the Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate (HRACRE). BRETT B. THOMPSON is a partner/shareholder of Law Office of Brett B. Thompson, PLLC, where his main areas of practice are real estate, corporate law and civil litigation. He has previously lectured on his main areas of practice. Mr. Thompson is a member of Hampton Roads Realtors Association, Texas Mortgage Bankers Association, Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate, Norfolk Bar Association and Portsmouth Bar Association. He earned his B.A. degree from Virginia Military Institute and his J.D. degree from Regent University School of Law. EDWARD R. WAUGAMAN is a real estate attorney who practices primarily in the area of real estate law, residential and commercial transactions, title insurance representation and ethics. He is former counsel to Southern Title Insurance Corporation, Lawyers Title Insurance Corporation and Ticor Title Insurance Company. During his 32 years in the title insurance industry, Mr. Waugaman practiced in the areas of title underwriting practices, negotiation and settlement of title insurance claims, and conducting and advising on settlement operations, including RESPA compliance and real estate-like exchange transactions. He is a former adjunct professor for Real Estate Law at Christopher Newport University. Mr. Waugaman earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and his J.D. degree from George Mason School of Law.
