MEGAN E. BURNS is an attorney with the Virginia Beach law firm of Troutman Sanders LLP, where she practices in the areas of creditors' rights, real estate and government contracts litigation. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of Virginia and her J.D. degree from the William and Mary Law School. Ms. Burns previously served as chairperson of the 2nd District Committee on Lawyer Discipline for six years. She is a member of the Virginia Beach, the Norfolk, the Portsmouth, the American and the Federal bar associations, the Virginia State Bar and the Tidewater Bankruptcy Association. PATRICK E. CORBIN, CPA, is the founder and president of Corbin & Company, P.C., a Chesapeake, Virginia-based certified public accounting firm that provides professional services in the areas of accounting and auditing, tax planning and preparation, business valuation and litigation support, and business consulting. Mr. Corbin is involved with all aspects of the firm, but focuses much of his time in the areas of business valuation and litigation support. He has qualified as an expert witness in both state and federal courts on a number of issues, including business valuation, financial analysis and damages. Mr. Corbin has been voted as a "Super CPA" in the fields of business valuation and litigation support by his peers as reported in Virginia Business magazine for the years 2002 through 2009. In addition to litigation support, Mr. Corbin assists clients with tax and estate planning and general business consultation. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree in accounting. HOLLY CORBIN MARTIN, CPA/ABV, is a senior vice president at Corbin & Company, P.C. Ms. Martin joined Corbin & Company in 2004 and works primarily in the areas of business valuation and litigation support services. She is accredited in business valuation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has qualified as an expert witness in the areas of business valuation and financial analysis in the Virginia court system. Ms. Martin was voted as a "Super CPA" in the fields of business valuation and litigation support by her peers as reported in Virginia Business magazine in 2009. In addition to litigation support, she assists clients with tax planning and preparation, as well as general business consultation. Ms. Martin holds a B.B.A. degree in accounting and a B.A. degree in economics from William and Mary Law School. CARON CROUSE, CPA, is partner-in-charge with Goodman & Company, L.L.P. where she specializes in working with not-for-profit organizations. Ms. Crouse coordinates implantation of new accounting standards and tax laws as they relate to not-for-profit clients. She also leads the not-for-profit specialization group within the Norfolk Office. Ms. Crouse also specializes in advising small to medium size businesses in the areas of accounting, tax and general business issues. Audits, preparation of financial statements, preparation of tax returns, corporate and individual tax planning, assistance with payroll and sales tax issues, and accounting software procedures and implementation assistance are typical services provided to these companies. She received her B.A. degree from Saint Leo University and her Master of Business Administration and Master of Accounting degrees from Old Dominion University. Ms. Crouse is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA), and a past president of the Tidewater Chapter of the VSCPA. LYNN M. JERNELL, a Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Virginia, is a supervisor with Goodman & Company, L.L.P. and specializes in the practice areas of business valuations, litigation and taxation. She has worked in accounting and finance all of her career and recently rejoined Goodman & Company, L.L.P. after working for a large banking institution as a commercial real estate loan officer. Ms. Jernell holds a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Old Dominion University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and HRACRE. She has been Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Other professional experience includes several years as a small business owner specializing in new residential construction, a licensed commercial real estate appraiser and an adjunct professor at Tidewater Community College. MARYANN McCHESNEY-SHAW, CPA, CIA, CISA, is a senior manager with Goodman & Company, L.L.P. She has over twenty-five years of experience in financial management in a variety of industries including manufacturing, film and software production, government contracting, healthcare, retail, and international accounting. Since joining Goodman & Company, she has become a firm-wide resource in helping our clients improve their internal controls, operational processes, and use of technology through process reviews and financial analysis. Ms. McChesney-Shaw specializes in internal control and efficiency evaluations, information technology controls and risk assessments, fraud prevention and detection, internal audit engagements, and audits of service organizations under Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70. She received her B.S.B.A from Old Dominion University and her MBA from Averett University. She is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Information Systems and Controls Association (ISACA), and the Tidewater Chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
