JAMES P. ALDER is a partner in the Salt Lake City law firm of Alder & Robb, P.C. MARK J. MORRISE is a shareholder with the Salt Lake City law firm of Callister Nebeker & McCullough, where his law practice focuses on trusts and estates, estate and gift tax planning, trust and estate administration, asset protection, charitable planning, planning for closely held businesses, and legacy planning. KENDALL R. SURFASS is vice chairman, secretary & general counsel for Equitable Life & Casualty Ins. Co. in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is the chief legal officer of the company, a member of the Board of Directors and serves on the Steering Committee, Executive Committee and Risk Management Committee. Mr. Surfass's responsibilities include litigation risk avoidance and management, corporate and regulatory compliance oversight, product development, marketing support review, strategic planning, corporate communications and government relations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Utah Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association, the Council for Affordable Health Insurance and the Utah Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Mr. Surfass was co-chair of the Long Term Care Technical Advisory Group to the Utah Health Policy Commission. In 2005 he was selected as a Utah delegate to the White House Conference on Aging. Mr. Surfass is a member of the Utah State Bar, the Iowa State Bar Association, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He earned his J.D. degree from Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa.
