SHAWN FARRIS is a partner with Farris & Utley, PC, where he practices mainly in the areas of the formation of business entitities, international transactions, civil litigation in both the federal and state courts, real property, and trust deed foreclosures. He represents a variety of corporate and individual clientele, including clients in Denmark, Japan, Mexico, the United Kingdom, China and Germany. Mr. Farris is admitted to practice in Utah, the Federal Court for the District of Utah and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is an instructor for the Utah Administrative Office of the Courts, where he teaches courses attended by the State Justice Court judges, and has been a guest lecturer in China at the Nanjing School of Law, where he presented seminars of American law to Chinese law students and faculty. Mr. Farris has served as both president and a member of the board of directors for the Southern Utah Bar Association. He served 7 years as a Judge Pro Tempore in the 5th District Court of Utah. Mr. Farris earned his B.S. degree at Brigham Young University and his J.D. degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School. RICHARD B. FRANDSEN is an attorney in Salt Lake City where his practice concentrates in the areas of commercial litigation and collections. He has been practicing law for 30 years. Mr. Frandsen services many national collection agencies, and is a frequent lecturer for these agencies and other corporate sponsors, on a variety of collection issues. He also is listed in several national law lists of collection counsel. Mr. Frandsen is a member of the Utah State Bar and the Commercial Law League of America. He recently retired as a JAG (legal) officer in the U.S. Army Reserves. He earned his B.A. degree from Brigham Young University and his J.D. degree from Gonzaga University. GEORGE B. HOFMANN is a shareholder with Parsons, Kinghorn & Harris, P.C., where his practice encompasses all aspects of the debtor-creditor relationship, but focuses particularly on bankruptcy law. He has represented debtors, creditors, trustees, committees, bondholders, indenture trustees, and a variety of other parties with interest in bankruptcy proceedings. He was appointed to the panel of Chapter 7 trustees for the District of Utah in March 2011. His bankruptcy experience includes plan confirmation and objections to confirmation, asset sales, avoidance litigation, claims litigation, and executory contract disputes. In addition to his bankruptcy practice, Mr. Hofmann has prosecuted and defended lender liability litigation. He has also represented lenders and borrowers in loan documentation from origination through workout. Mr. Hofmann is admitted to practice in Utah and the U.S. District Court, District of Utah; New York; the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Federal District Courts for the District of Massachusetts; and the Northern, Southern, and Western districts of New York. He earned his B.S. degree from the University of Utah and his J.D. degree from the University of Utah College of Law (Order of the Coif), where he served on the Utah Law Review. Mr. Hofmann is listed in Best Lawyers of America in the category of bankruptcy and creditor-debtor rights law, is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and has been included in Utah's Legal Elite in the area of bankruptcy/workout by Utah Business magazine. CHRIS L. SCHMUTZ is a partner with the Bountiful law firm of Schmutz & Mohlman, LLC, where he practices in the areas of bankruptcy litigation representing creditors and trustees, commercial litigation and corporate law. Mr. Schmutz received both his B.A. and J.D. degrees, cum laude, from Brigham Young University. He is a member of the Utah Bankruptcy Lawyers Forum, the Utah State Bar (member, Bankruptcy Section) and the Idaho State Bar.
