LORI ASHMORE PETERS is an attorney with The Ashmore Law Firm, P.C. Ms. Peters was admitted to practice in Texas in 1996. Her background is in probate, ancillary probate, estate planning, guardianships and mental health law. Ms. Peters has been certified to serve as Attorney Ad Litem and Guardian Ad Litem in the probate courts in Texas. She has served as court appointed Attorney Ad Litem on numerous cases, as well as Guardian Ad Litem, Guardian and Court appointed Attorney on Mental Illness cases. Ms. Peters also serves as master over probable cause hearings on mental illness cases. She earned her B.A. degree from Texas A&M University and her J.D. degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. G. WARD BEAUDRY is the president and corporate partner in the Dallas law firm of Winn, Beaudry & Winn. Mr. Beaudry is an accredited estate planner by the National Association of Estate Planning Councils and a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He is the former chair of the Dallas Bar Association Probate and Trusts Section, and a member of the Dallas Estate Planning Council and the North Texas Estate Planning Council (founding member, Board of Governors). Mr. Beaudry also is a certified Guardian Ad Litem. Since 1969, he has concentrated his practice in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust law, trust and estate litigation, corporate litigation, and elder law and mediation. He is a trained arbitrator and mediator by the American Arbitration Association. Mr. Beaudry is a frequent speaker on estate planning, probate administration, elder law and legal ethics topics, and has written numerous articles on limited liability corporations, ethical implications of estate planning and guardianship, trust and estate administration. He earned his B.A. degree, with honors, from Austin College and his J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law. Mr. Beaudry is a life fellow of the American, Texas and Dallas bar foundations, and a member of the State Bar of Texas and the College of the State Bar of Texas. JANET SHAFER BOYANTON is a sole practitioner in DeSoto, where she practices in the areas of elder law, probate, wills, and nursing home neglect. She has written an article, "Nursing Home Litigation," published in The Elder Law Report and has lectured to various professional groups on aging and nursing home residents' rights issues. Ms. Boyanton earned her B.A. degree from Austin College, her M.B.A. degree from Amber University and her J.D. degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. She received mediation training from Settlement Consultants International Inc. Ms. Boyanton is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, the Texas Chapter of National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (Past Board of Directors, By-laws Committee), the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and was the founding treasurer of the organization Best Southwest Bar Association. SHANNON L. COX is a paralegal and private investigator for the law firm of Calloway, Norris, Burdette & Weber, PLLC, a probate litigation and administration firm. Ms. Cox has served as probate section chair for the Dallas Area Paralegal Association from 2004 to 2009. She is an active member of the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas, Dallas Area Paralegal Association, the Texas Guardianship Association and the Dallas Subcommittee for the Unauthorized Practice of Law. Ms. Cox is a certified mediator and licensed private investigator. She is a frequent speaker on elder abuse and exploitation. Ms. Cox has a vast experience with local, state and federal criminal justice agencies and served as a criminal investigator in the U.S. Army Reserve. Much of her work as a paralegal involves researching and locating heirs. Ms. Cox provides witness testimony in all of the Dallas County Probate courts. She was an active supporter of the initiative, which passed in 2007, to approve funding for a special Dallas County prosecutor to prosecute cases of elder exploitation. Ms. Cox earned her B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and her paralegal certification with a specialty in litigation from Southern Methodist University. She is a past recipient of the Dallas Bar Association's Pro Bono Legal Support Award. CHARLES KENNEDY is an attorney/CPA focusing on helping individuals plan for financial and healthcare problems through estate planning, probate, bankruptcy, guardianship and asset protection planning. Mr. Kennedy is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the State Bar of Texas. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1983 in Texas. Mr. Kennedy earned his B.B.A. and J.D. degrees at Texas Tech University.
