MONICA J. LERMA is an attorney in the law firm of Schmoyer Reinhard LLP, where her practice focuses on the representation of employers in all aspects of employment litigation in state and federal court. Ms. Lerma also counsels and advises employers regarding compliance with labor and employment laws, as well as on workplace policy issues. Prior to joining Schmoyer Reinhard LLP, she was counsel in the San Antonio litigation section of the international law firm of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Ms. Lerma has 11 years of civil litigation experience. Her experience includes litigating claims involving commercial disputes, class actions and claims brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. Ms. Lerma has experience in all aspects of litigation in state and federal courts, arbitration and appeals. She earned her B.B.A. degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and her J.D. degree from the Boston University School of Law. During law school, Ms. Lerma served as an intern for the Honorable Tim Taft, Texas First Court of Appeals. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas. Ms. Lerma is admitted to practice in Texas; before the U.S. District courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western districts of Texas; and before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh circuits. She is actively involved in several community and professional organizations in the San Antonio area, including the San Antonio Bar Association and the Bexar County Women's Bar Association. Ms. Lerma currently serves as a director of the Bexar County Women's Bar Association. LAURA E. O'DONNELL is a partner in the law firm of Haynes and Boone, LLP in San Antonio. As a litigator in the firm's labor and employment practice group, Ms. O'Donnell focuses on issues related to the FLSA, class discrimination, employee competition and sexual harassment. She also has experience handling matters involving executive contracts and fiduciary duties, Title VII and related state causes of action, FMLA, ERISA, and most other employment based claims. Ms. O'Donnell has handled several appeals of employment decisions to Texas Courts of Appeal, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. She is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. O'Donnell was elected for inclusion in Texas Super Lawyers, 2010 and in Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars, 2004 to 2010. STEPHEN J. ROMERO is an attorney with the international law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. His practice focuses on a variety of labor and employment and litigation matters. Mr. Romero has represented employers in court proceedings and before administrative agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Texas Workforce Commission. His practice also includes counseling employers on various employment-related issues, performing supervisory training seminars, preparing and reviewing personnel handbooks and policies, and advising clients regarding employee retention and termination. Mr. Romero is a University of North Texas graduate and subsequently received his law degree from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where he graduated cum laude. He is a member of the San Antonio Bar Association and the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association. Mr. Romero has been named in the Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star Law and Politics (2010, 2011). JUSTIN SOBEY is an attorney in the law firm of Schmoyer Reinhard LLP. Mr. Sobey's practice focuses on the representation of employers in all aspects of employment litigation in state and federal court. He also counsels and advises employers regarding compliance with labor and employment laws, as well as on workplace policy issues. Mr. Sobey is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Prior to joining Schmoyer Reinhard LLP, he was an associate in the San Antonio labor and employment section of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Mr. Sobey was a judicial law clerk from 2005 through 2006 for the Honorable Xavier Rodriguez of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, San Antonio Division. He earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Villanova University and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the Baylor University School of Law, where he was the executive editor of the Baylor University Law Review. Mr. Sobey is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and San Antonio Bar Association. Mr. Sobey was named in Scene in SA Monthly magazine in 2009 and 2010 as one of San Antonio's Best Labor and Employment Lawyers, as well as a Rising Star from 2009 to 2011.
