December 16 - Nashville JOHN M. CANNON is a shareholder in the Goodlettsville law firm of Cannon & Cannon Attorneys, P.C., where his practice is concentrated in the areas of construction law, civil litigation and family law. He earned his B.A. degree from Belmont University, his J.D. degree from the Nashville School of Law and his M.A. degree from Middle Tennessee State University. Mr. Cannon is a Rule 31 certified mediator, and a member of the Nashville, Tennessee and American bar associations, the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. TRAVIS B. SWEARINGEN is a member of the firm's general litigation and commercial departments. Mr. Swearingen represents his clients in the areas of commercial litigation, bankruptcy, malpractice, and any general litigation matters that may arise. He earned his B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and his J.D. degree from Vancerbilt University Law School. WARDEN is a member of the law firm of Jackson, Kweller, McKinney, Warden, Lewis & Hayes, in Nashville, where he practices in the areas of elder law, estate planning, business law, business litigation and civil law. He has been practicing law for more than 25 years and has lectured for National Business Institute and other professional groups on matters related to estate planning and elder law. Mr. Warden is an appointed guardian ad litem by the Davidson County Probate Court and is admitted to practice in Tennessee, West Virginia and Georgia. He earned his B.A. degree from Vanderbilt University, his J.D. degree from West Virginia University, and his LL.M. degree from George Washington University. Mr. Warden is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the Nashville Bar Association. December 17 - Memphis T. ROBERT ABNEY is a partner in the Memphis law firm of Cochran, Uhlmann, Abney, Duck & Wright. He practices primarily in the areas of commercial litigation, bankruptcy and foreclosures. Mr. Abney has lectured for various professional groups on his areas of practice. He is a member of the Memphis (member and past chair, Bankruptcy Section) and Tennessee bar associations. Mr. Abney attended Tennessee Technological University and earned both his B.B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Memphis (formerly Memphis State University). MATT BURGESS is the systems manager for the clerk's office of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of Tennessee. He oversees all aspects of data processing in the Western District of Tennessee. Mr. Burgess has spoken numerous times on this topic and conducts regular diversity and change management training for the Federal Judicial Center in Washington, D.C. JULIE D. COPLEY is an in-house senior paralegal for the ServiceMaster Franchise Group, which includes the Merry Maids, ServiceMaster Clean, Furniture Medic and AmeriSpec brands. She began working for ServiceMaster Clean in March of 2000 at Terminix. She moved to the franchise group in June 2003. As a paralegal for the ServiceMaster Franchise Group, Ms. Copley is responsible for tracking legislation that regulates the home inspection licensing and requirements. Her other areas of responsibility include reviewing marketing materials, maintaining the Errors and Omissions insurance program for the home inspector franchisees, litigation and claims management, contract review and handling general franchise relationship issues. Ms. Copley passed the national paralegal certification exam in 2006. She earned her paralegal certificate from the Institute of Paralegal Studies in 1996. After obtaining her certificate, she worked as a legal secretary at Baker, Donelson, Bearman and Caldwell in the area of ERISA, commercial lending and estate planning. In 1998, she was offered a paralegal position at Krivcher Magids, PLLC, where she worked in the areas of litigation and family law for two years before she began her career as a paralegal at the ServiceMaster Franchise Group. JAMES L. CRESSWELL JR. is an attorney with the law firm of Petkoff & Feigelson, where his areas of practice include litigation; including medical malpractice, insurance coverage, personal injury, products liability, domestic relations, contract and debt collection. He earned his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Mississippi State University and his Juris Doctorate degree, with honors, from the University of Mississippi School of Law. After law school, Mr. Cresswell served as a law clerk for the Circuit Court of Hinds County, Mississippi and as a law clerk for the Mississippi Court of Appeals. He is currently licensed to practice law in Tennessee and Mississippi. Mr. Cresswell is a member of the Mississippi Bar, the Memphis Bar Association, the Tennessee Defense Lawyer's Association and the Defense Research Institute.
