AMY J. EVERHART founded the Everhart Law Firm PLC to counsel individuals and organizations in the creative industries, entrepreneurs, investors, business owners, and others with legal needs in the areas of trademark, copyright, entertainment and the internet. Ms. Everhart has represented recording artists, songwriters, major and independent record companies, music publishers, book publishers, healthcare companies and other corporate and individual clients in various matters, including copyright and trademark infringement and ownerships disputes, unfair competition, Consumer Protection Act, right of publicity, right to privacy, royalty disputes, and contract actions. She played a significant role in coordinating the joint defense of hundreds of rap-sampling copyright infringement lawsuits brought simultaneously against major record companies and music publishers in the landmark Bridgeport Music, Inc. litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. Ms. Everhart earned her undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from the University of North Dakota and her law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law. Ms. Everhart serves as a guest lecturer for the University of Tennessee Law School and Belmont University. KELLY L. FREY is an attorney with Dickinson Wright PLLC's Nashville office. Mr. Frey concentrates his practice on representing Fortune 1000 companies, and the vendors to such companies, with respect to corporate compliance and corporate transactions. He is the author of the legal practice guide Frey on Intellectual Property and Technology Transaction and dozens of articles related to financing, companies and intellectual property. Mr. Frey was general counsel for the Copyright Clearance Center (the U.S. collective licensing organization for the publishing industry), for one of the first audio download companies, for one of the first social networking sites and for one of the first U.S. manufacturers of personal computers. He also is an award winning screenwriter, sits on the screening committee and board of the Nashville Film Festival, and represents independent production companies engaged in feature film and network broadcast production. Mr. Frey was selected as one of the top ten corporate attorneys in Nashville/Middle Tennessee by the Nashville Business Journal, is a fellow of the Nashville Bar Foundation, and is a recipient of the Contributor of the Year Award for 2007, 2008 and 2009 by the Nashville Bar Journal. Mr. Frey is one of only six practicing attorneys in the world to be admitted as a fellow of the World Technology Network. He serves as an adjunct instructor on the subjects of copyright law, advanced licensing, business law and legal ethics. He earned his M.S. and B.A. degrees from Vanderbilt University and his J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee. NORMAN B. GILLIS is the principal of the law firm of Norman Gillis & Associates, Inc., where he practices in entertainment law, entertainment contracts, music law, intellectual property, copyrights, trademarks, small business, and commercial contracts. He is primarily involved in transactional advice and negotiations in entertainment. Mr. Gillis earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Mississippi. He has presented seminars for NBI, and on extraordinary remedies in trademark protection for the Nashville Bar Association. He is a regular co-speaker for the televised Pensacola, FL program, Music Business and Taxes. Mr. Gillis is a member of the Tennessee, Mississippi and Nashville Bar Associations; is on the Professional Advisory Board for AFTRA; and has served on the Faculty Advisory Committee for the International Academy of Design and Technology.
