FREDERICK (RICK) L. HITCHCOCK is a shareholder with the Chattanooga law firm of Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C. His areas of practice include environmental counseling and litigation, energy and utilities, technology businesses, local governments, and litigation and appeals. Mr. Hitchcock has spoken at more than 100 seminars on topics related to environmental law, utility law, local government and litigation. He has previously served as an adjunct professor of political science for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Mr. Hitchcock earned his B.A. degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and his J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee. He is a member of the American (Environment, Energy and Resources Section), Tennessee (current member, Executive Committee of Environmental Law Section) and Chattanooga bar associations. Mr. Hitchcock is admitted to practice in Tennessee, and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals, 6th Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals, 4th Circuit, and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Tennessee. DAVID WILSON LONG is managing principal in the Knoxville law firm of Long, Ragsdale & Waters, P.C., where he practices in the areas of real estate development, commercial law, environmental law, banking and corporations. He earned his B.S. degree, magna cum laude, from Wake Forest University and his J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee, where he was Order of the Coif. Mr. Long is a member of the Knoxville, Tennessee (past chairman, Real Estate Section) and American (member, Mortgages and Other Debt Financing Committee, Real Property and Probate Section) bar associations. LEE A. POPKIN is an attorney with Long, Ragsdale & Waters, P.C., where his practice includes representing real estate developers in structuring joint ventures with investors and business succession and estate planning matters. He also assists non-profit organizations in obtaining tax exempt status. Mr. Popkin represents personal representatives in probate administration and clients in like-kind exchanges. He earned his B.S. degree, cum laude, from Miami University, Richard T. Farmer School of Business, his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from The University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, and his LL.M. degree from New York University School of Law. LARS E. SCHULLER is an attorney with Lewis, King, Krieg & Waldrop, P.C., where he practices in real estate and civil litigation. Mr. Schuller's real estate transaction practice includes, title examinations of industrial, commercial, and residential properties, producing title opinions and title insurance, all aspects of real estate closings, including drafting deeds and other instruments, settlement and representation of buyers, sellers, banks, credit unions and other lenders. In his real estate practice, he also addresses unwritten real estate transfers or conveyances, public rights-of-way and private rights of access and easements, title, boundary and survey matters, and land use issues. Further, he represents secured creditors in foreclosure and bankruptcy proceedings. In addition to Mr. Schuller's real property transactional work, he conducts civil litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts. Mr. Schuller's practice experience includes matters involving issues of contract, tort, professional liability, construction law and litigation, products liability, premises liability, fraud, insurance coverage, governmental liability, employment law, real estate title and boundary disputes, rights of landlord and tenant, eminent domain, inverse condemnation, and real estate agents. He has lectured at continuing education seminars for attorneys and real estate professionals. Mr. Schuller is a member of the Tennessee, Knoxville and the Sevier County bar associations.
