October 3 - Nashville KENNETH L. CAMPBELL is a partner in the Nashville law firm of Baker, Campbell & Parsons, where he practices in real estate law, real estate development and tax. Mr. Campbell was an adjunct professor in business law at the Massey Graduate School of Business for ten years. He earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from Vanderbilt University, and his M.B.A. degree from the Massey Graduate School of Business. Mr. Campbell is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee and American bar associations. SARAH M. CLARK is a senior associate with Frost Brown Todd LLC. She represents public and private companies in a wide array of corporate transactions, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, commercial real estate transactions, and distressed investing. Ms. Clark also works with clients on a variety of franchise and distribution related matters, including compliance with state and federal franchise regulations. She earned her B.B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Belmont University and her J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University.
ROBERT C. GOODRICH JR. is a member of the law firm of Stites & Harbison, PLLC, where he practices in the areas of commercial litigation, banking and creditors' rights, and bankruptcy. He has been designated as a specialist in business bankruptcy by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization. Mr. Goodrich has spoken to various professional groups and given seminars in several areas, including real estate foreclosures under Tennessee law, real estate work-outs, landlords' rights in bankruptcy and compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. He earned his B.A. degree, with distinction, from the University of Virginia and his J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University Law School. Mr. Goodrich is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee and American bar associations, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. WILLIAM L. PENNY is a partner in the Nashville law firm of Stites & Harbison, PLLC, where he practices in the area of environmental law. His environmental practice covers a wide range of environmental law at the state and federal levels, including natural resource law, remediation, negotiation with regulatory agencies in environmental matters, superfund litigation, RCRA matters, brownfield redevelopment, wetlands, water quality, radiological waste and compliance, and air pollution control. Mr. Penny regularly counsels clients on compliance issues and represents businesses before state environmental boards, the Department of Environment and Conservation for permit appeals and matters before the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He has been involved in controversial land use developments, where environmental issues were a major factor; and represents contractors, manufacturing companies, local governments and other individuals in environmental matters. Mr. Penny served as general counsel for the Tennessee Department of Health and Environment and, subsequently, the Department of Environment & Conservation for more than eight years. He is a frequent speaker at local, state and national seminars dealing with environmental law, and is an instructor of environmental law at the Nashville School of Law. Mr. Penny is the principal author of the book A Practical Guide To Tennessee Environmental Law. In addition he is a co-author of the ABA Brownfields Third Addition, a Tennessee editor for BNA's Environmental Due Diligence Guide, and has written the Tennessee Chapter for the upcoming ABA publication, Institutional Controls at Brownfield Sites (to be published fall 2011). Mr. Penny is a member of the Nashville (founding chair, Environmental Law Committee), Tennessee (founding chair and serves on the Board of Directors, Environmental Law Section) and American (member, Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Section; Budget Officer) bar associations. He earned his B.A. degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and his J.D. degree from the Nashville School of Law. MARCY S. SHELTON is an attorney in the Nashville law firm of Gullett, Sanford, Robinson & Martin, PLLC, where she represents lenders, individuals, families and business owners in real estate and personal property transactions, banking, and business law. On behalf of such clients, whether they are buying or selling, she negotiates contracts, prepares title documents and facilitates closings of sales and purchases in addition to consummating loan transactions. Ms. Shelton has acted as local counsel for regional and national lenders in commercial transactions securing assets in all loan amounts. Throughout her career, her practice has involved facilitating loans for locally owned shops and businesses, hotels, and shopping centers. Ms. Shelton's client base includes companies who have developed residential or office condominium regimes under the newly enacted Tennessee Condominium Act of 2008 and landlords and tenants in regard to commercial and residential matters. She is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and has served as a delegate for the 21st Judicial District to the Tennessee House of Delegates. Ms. Shelton is a member of the American, Davidson County and Williamson County bar associations. She is a past president of the Franklin Noon Rotary Club, is a Paul Harris Fellow and is currently serving as vice president of the Brentwood Rotary Club at Noon. ROBERT ABNEY is a partner in the Memphis law firm of Cochran, Uhlmann, Abney, Duck & Wright. He practices primarily in the areas of commercial litigation, bankruptcy and foreclosures. Mr. Abney has lectured for various professional groups on his areas of practice. He is a member of the Memphis (member and past chair, Bankruptcy Section) and Tennessee bar associations. Mr. Abney attended Tennessee Technological University and earned both his B.B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Memphis (formerly Memphis State University). MICHAEL E. HEWGLEY is the founder of The Hewgley Law Firm and is the chief manager of Mid-South Title Services, L.L.C., a closing service and title insurance provider in Memphis. He practices primarily in the areas of real estate and finance. Mr. Hewgley has lectured on real estate-related topics for banking personnel, real estate agents, attorneys and other professionals in the real estate industry for more than 15 years. He earned his B.A. degree from Rhodes College and his J.D. degree from the University of Memphis. Mr. Hewgley is a member of the Memphis, Shelby County and Tennessee bar associations. CLAYTON C. PURDOM practices in the areas of business planning and transactions, commercial real estate, securities, commercial lending and taxation. Since joining the firm, Mr. Purdom has devoted the majority of his professional time to the negotiation and documentation of a variety of business transactions, ranging from the organization of start-up entities to representing a group of investors in a large private placement securities offering. WOMACK is a member in the Memphis firm of Glankler Brown, PLLC, practicing in the areas of environmental law and general commercial litigation. Mr. Womack has counseled corporations and institutions regarding the implications of federal, state and local environmental laws in such areas as release reporting, storm water permitting requirements, underground storage tanks and RCRA compliance.
