APRIL P. COUNTERMAN has a private practice focusing primarily on family law with offices in Chester and Rock Hill, South Carolina. In addition to private practice, she serves as the attorney for the city of Chester and a contract attorney for the South Carolina Legal Services. Ms. Counterman completed her undergraduate studies at the College of Charleston where she majored in psychology and minored in women's studies. She obtained her J.D. degree from Mississippi College School of Law. Ms. Counterman is admitted to practice in South Carolina and before the U.S. District Court of South Carolina. SUSAN EDWARDS is a member of the Gaffney Louis & Edwards, LLC, where her primary focus is in the area of general litigation and insurance defense. She also represents clients in domestic matters. Ms. Edwards received her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of South Carolina and her Juris Doctor degree from Campbell University School of Law in North Carolina. Ms. Edwards practiced law with a large corporate defense firm prior to forming Gaffney Lewis & Edwards, LLC. She has represented companies in complex business disputes, including antitrust class action litigation. She has defended companies involved in employment disputes, including sexual harassment and racial discrimination. Prior to joining the corporate defense firm, Ms. Edwards practiced with a firm in which she represented state governmental entities in discrimination disputes through the South Carolina Insurance Reserve Fund. Ms. Edwards represents clients in domestic matters such as divorce, custody, visitation, prenuptial agreements and step parent adoptions. She also has represented clients in actions involving the state's department of child services. Ms. Edwards is a member of the Order of the Barristers, the South Carolina Bar, the American Bar Association, the Richland County Bar Association and the South Carolina Women Lawyer's Association. She is admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of South Carolina, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit. Ms. Edwards also serves as a special prosecutor for the South Carolina Attorney General's office prosecuting criminal domestic violence JAMES D. EWART is a director of Dixon Hughes Goodman, where his main areas of practice include business valuations, dispute resolution, expert testimony, interim financial management and tax planning. Mr. Ewart is experienced in providing business valuation incident to estate and gift taxes. In addition, he focuses in dispute resolution, including divorce, shareholder actions, damage claims and expert testimony. Mr. Ewart also serves clients in the areas of business and individual tax planning and interim financial management. He is a certified public accountant and licensed in South Carolina as a certified valuation analyst accredited in business valuation. Mr. Ewart is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), South Carolina Association of CPAs (SCACPA), National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA), NACVA Course Writing Committee and SCACPA Litigation and Business Valuation Committee. As a certified divorce financial analyst, she is especially equipped to address the unique, complex and often challenging economic matters that must be considered during a divorce such as long term cash flows for the restructured family dynamics, liquidity issues, debt assessment and management, taxes, workforce retraining needs, and long-term goal assessment and planning. Ms. Saylor earned her MBA from the University of South Carolina and she has a broad background in both individual financial advisement as well as corporate finance. Prior to becoming a certified financial planner offering financial guidance to individuals and small to mid-sized businesses, Ms. Saylor had an extensive background in manufacturing finance and cost accounting management in the midlands of South Carolina. JUDITH ANN WHITING is a sole practitioner in Columbia where she practices in the areas of family and elder law. Dr. Whiting is a member of the American Family & Conciliation Courts, International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the National Professional Women's Association, the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association, and the South Carolina Bar, and the Richland County and American bar associations. She also serves on the board of the South Carolina Gerontological Society.
