JAMES D. CALLAHAN is an attorney in the North Charleston law firm of Callahan Law Firm, where he practices exclusively in the areas of Social Security disability, long-term disability and disability retirement. He has lectured for National Business Institute on "Handling a Social Security Disability Case," in South Carolina, and has presented courses to other attorney and community groups . Mr. Callahan is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant Representatives (NOSSCR) and is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice (member, Social Security Section), the South Carolina Association for Justice and the Federal Bar Association. He earned his B.B.A. degree from Campbell University, his J.D. degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and his M.P.A. degree from Georgia State University. He is a member and past-president of the Kiwanis Club of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and has served on homeowners' association boards of directors. STACY E. THOMPSON graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College in 1994 with a B.A. degree in International Studies. Ms. Thompson received her J.D. degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and a Master of International Business Studies Degree (Portuguese track) from the Darla Moore School of Business in 2000. She joined Bluestein Nichols Thompson Delgado LLC, in 2000, and became a partner in 2007. Ms. Thompson practices exclusively in the area of Social Security Disability. She is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant's Representatives (NOSSCR) and in 2009 was elected to the NOSSCR Board representing the Fourth and DC Circuits. Ms. Thompson is also a member of the South Carolina Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, the South Carolina Bar Association, and the Richland County Bar Association. She volunteers with the South Carolina Pro Bono program and is a graduate of the SC Bar Leadership Academy (2010). Ms. Thompson is currently chair of the Social Security Disability Section of the South Carolina Association for Justice (formerly South Carolina Trial Lawyers) and is chair of the South Carolina Bar Publications Committee. She has been a speaker at numerous seminars regarding social security disability throughout the state, including the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Annual Conference (2007 -- 2010), and has organized and moderated social security seminars for the South Carolina Bar Association (2006, 2008 and 2010). Ms. Thompson has written one publication, "Social Security Disability Cases in South Carolina: Basic Case Evaluation and Management," (SC Bar 2006, 2nd edition 2010) and co wrote another, "Handling a Social Security Disability Case," (National Business Institute 2007). She is an active member of the Junior League of Columbia, where she is a former chair of the Refugee Outreach Committee and is incoming chair of the Speakers Bureau. Ms. Thompson is also board president of the Disability Action Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of independent living for people with disabilities and a member of the board of the Palmetto Mastersingers.
