LAURA H. BEARD is the founder of LHB Medical-Legal Consulting, LLC. Ms. Beard has been a registered nurse since 1981.With experience in a variety of nursing disciplines including medical and cardiac intensive care, cardiology, and clinical nursing instruction; Ms. Beard brings a wealth of knowledge and assessment skills to every case. Her experience as a patient educator gives her unique skills in translating complex medical information into layman's terms. As a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant, Ms. Beard specializes in screening cases for merit, analyzing causation issues, identifying breaches in the standards of care, preparing educational reports for attorneys and assisting with deposition preparation. She earned her B.S. degree from Western Kentucky University and her Nursing Diploma from Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. Ms. Beard is a former Clinical Nursing Instructor with Midlands Technical College and a former Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor. She has clinical experience at large urban medical centers, as well as small and intermediate hospitals in Kentucky, Tennessee and South Carolina. Ms. Beard is a member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants and the National Alliance of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants. LHB Medical-Legal Consulting, LLC provides services on a variety of legal cases including medical malpractice, personal injury and workers' compensation. Ms. Beard also is trained to assist with the preparation of Medicare Set-Aside Allocations. ALICIA K. CLAWSON is a managing attorney at the law firm of Allen, Kopet & Associates, PLLC, where her main areas of practice include workers' compensation, general insurance defense, auto liability and premises liability. Ms. Clawson earned her B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of South Carolina. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce Workers' Compensation Committee and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association; and a former member of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. PAM COLLINS is a legal nurse consultant with Consultation On-Call, LLC. She has more than 30 years of varied nursing experiences which includes work as a staff/charge nurse for medical surgical and pediatric units, nurse manager/nursing administration, nursing faculty and education/legal nurse consultant. While Ms. Collins currently works as an independent consultant, she maintains her skills by working as a staff nurse on a telemetry unit in Charlotte, North Carolina. Ms. Collins earned her Master's degree from Clemson University and maintains certification in medical-surgical nursing. Her medical-legal career began approximately 20 years ago and was prompted by her interest in facilitating safe clinical practice with an emphasis on nursing documentation. Ms. Collins' extensive experience with medical record review/litigation support has afforded her the opportunity to see firsthand the legal perils of nursing practice and documentation. Her passion for education is evident through her energy, presentation style and ability to engage the audience. Ms. Collins considers it a privilege to share her expertise and experiences with other healthcare professionals and she speaks nationally on clinical and legal topics for the healthcare professional. JENNA W. GARRAUX is an attorney at the law firm of Ellis, Lawhorne & Sims P.A., where she is a member of the Workers' Compensation Practice Group. Her practice is focused on defending the interests of employers, including self-insured companies and insurance carriers. Because of recent changes to South Carolina's workers' compensation laws, Ms. Garraux works closely with clients to ensure understanding of the implications of new laws and to help ensure compliance. She earned her B.A. degree from King College and her J.D. degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Ms. Garraux is a member of the South Carolina Bar and the Richland County Bar Association. JENNIFER J. HUTTER is the founder and CEO of MedSearch Legal Nurse Consultants. She was the former manager of the SADMERC HCPCS Department for three years, and the region C DMERC HCPCS coordinator/medical review nurse for two years. Ms. Hutter has testified in administrative law judge hearings for the Medicare system and presented at ALJ/Hearings conferences. She has published a number of articles for Medicare publications. With more than 14 years of professional nursing experience, Ms. Hutter served in the operating room, home health, pediatrics, Medicare Integrity programs, occupational health, and medical-surgical nursing. She is a former Captain in the USA F. Ms. Hutter is a member of the American Association Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC) and the Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation (WBL). SARAH KAMINSKI , RN, LNC, is a successful healthcare professional with more than 20 years experience in direct patient care and management. She has strong analytical abilities along with excellent oral and written communication skills, including patient education and healthcare training. Ms. Kaminski is currently a Legal Nurse Consultant with Carolina Medical-Legal Consulting in Greenville, South Carolina. Her work experience includes reviewing and screening cases for merit for both plaintiff and defense, and assisting in developing or defending those cases. Ms. Kaminski assists with discovery. She develops detailed chronological summaries of injuries in a spreadsheet format and also identifies breaches in the standard of care. Ms. Kaminski is very strong in analyzing causation issues, and helping to determine actual damages that occurred as a result of the incident. She often writes letters to treating physicians to help clarify issues. Ms. Kaminski is very adept at locating excellent, credible experts and has extensive experience assisting with attorney deposition preparation. She consults on any case where health, injury or illness is an issue. Ms. Kaminski is a member of the American Association of Legal-Nurse Consultants (AALNC), the Attorney Awareness Committee of AALNC, and the South Carolina Chapter of the AALNC. Ms. Kaminski is a provider of legal-nurse consulting internships and is an adjunct clinical instructor and lecturer to baccalaureate nursing students. DENISE M. POTTER is a registered nurse with more than 25 years of clinical bedside practice. Her areas of expertise are emergency, triage, trauma, and intensive care. Ms. Potter presently works full time in the Emergency Department at Mary Black Memorial Hospital in Spartanburg, South Carolina as a staff nurse and permanent charge nurse. She has extensive knowledge in the area of triage and is the ESI Version 4 Triage Training Instructor for all existing and newly hired registered nurses in the ED. Ms. Potter was a speaker at the 2002 Changes Conference for the Southeast Georgia EMS Society which is attended by EMS, Nursing and Medical personnel. She also is a Legal Nurse Consultant with Potter & Associates Legal Nurse Consulting in Greenville, South Carolina. Ms. Potter's work includes reviewing and analyzing medical records, screening cases for merit for both plaintiff and defense, identifying deviations of standards of care, analyzing causation issues to assist in identifying damages that result from an incident as well as serving as a testifying expert. She earned her nursing degree from Augusta State University in Augusta, Georgia. Ms. Potter earned her CCRN, critical care certification through the AACN in 1988 and has maintained this certification to date. She is current with ACLS, PALS and is a member of ENA (Emergency Nurses Association), AACN (American Association of Critical Care Nursing), and AALNC (American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants), and is active in the South Carolina Chapter of AALNC. DR. DAVID S. ROGERS is an Adult Clinical Neurologist sub specializing in headache, chronic pain and dementia with the Oaktree Medical Centre. Dr. Rogers is board certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Board of Independent Medical Examiners, American Headache Society, American Academy of Pain Management, South Carolina Medical Association and South Carolina State Athletic Commission - License # 50. Dr. Rogers earned his B.A. degree from Marshall University and his M.D. degree from University Autonomous of Tamaulipas, he also completed postgraduate studies from the University of Miami School of Medicine. FRANCES S. STOCKLEY, RN, BSN, CLNC is a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant with Piedmont Medical Legal Consulting, LLC, where she works with attorneys on medical related cases. Ms. Stockley has experience in medical malpractice, working for the plaintiff or defense, in civil or criminal cases. She screens cases for merit, reviews and analyzes medical records for deviation from nursing standards of care and locates expert witnesses. Ms. Stockley is a clinical staff nurse for Hospice Home, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. She earned her A.D.N and B.S.N. degrees from the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg and her certification as a Legal Nurse Consultant from the Vickie L. Milazzo Institute.
