JOSEPH G. BUTLER has more than 20 years’ experience in bankruptcy law, representing both creditors and debtors. He has been a Chapter 7 Trustee in Massachusetts since 1987 and has served as trustee in thousands of cases. Mr. Butler also has been appointed as a Chapter 11 Trustee in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and has served as a receiver in Massachusetts. He has represented both creditors and debtors in cases in the bankruptcy courts and in out-of-court negotiations and "workouts." Mr. Butler has experience in re-organizing and liquidating businesses in the health care, high-tech, real estate, manufacturing, and hospitality industries. He earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Loyola University and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Boston College Law School. WILLIAM J. DELANEY is a partner with Delaney & DeMerchant LLC, where he practices in the areas of commercial law, creditors' rights and bankruptcy law. He previously has served as a member of the Chapter 7 Trustee Panel of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Rhode Island and is an arbitrator in the Rhode Island Superior Court Arbitration Program. Mr. Delaney earned his A.B. degree from the University of Notre Dame, his M.B.A. degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, his J.D. degree from Albany Law School of Union University and his LL.M. degree, in American banking law studies, from the Morin Center for Banking and Financial Law Studies, Boston University School of Law. Mr. Delaney is a member of the Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Vermont and New York State bar associations. LYNDA L. LAING is a partner in the law firm of Strauss, Factor, Laing & Lyons, in Providence, where her practice concentrates in the areas of collections and litigation. She served on the Board of Editors of the Rhode Island Bar Journal and has written articles and lectured on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Ms. Laing earned her A.B. degree from Albion College and her J.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University Law School. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Rhode Island and American bar associations, the Commercial Law League of America and the American Bankruptcy Institute. She served as chairperson of the Bench Bar Committee for the Rhode Island Bar Association. CHRISTOPHER M. LEFEBVRE is a partner in the Pawtucket law firm of Claude Lefebvre Christopher Lefebvre, P.C., where he practices in the areas of consumer law, bankruptcy and family law. Mr. Lefebvre previously has spoken for various professional groups on his areas of practice. He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the National Association of Consumer Advocates and a past member of the Board of Directors for Rhode Island Legal Services. Mr. Lefebvre earned his B.S. degree from Boston College and his J.D. degree from Suffolk University.
