MATTHEW J. CARL is the partner in charge of commercial, corporate, real estate law and estate planning at Blumling & Gusky, LLP. Mr. Carl counsels diverse local, national and international businesses and individuals. He advises clients on general corporate and commercial matters including choice of entity issues, mergers and acquisitions, finance, management, contracting and business succession. Mr. Carl negotiates documents and closes all types of real estate and commercial transactions. He handles and litigates land use and zoning issues and is a licensed title agent for First American Title Insurance Company and Fidelity National Title Insurance Company. Mr. Carl works with his clients to develop estate-planning objectives including business succession, minimizing of estate and inheritance tax liability, preserving family assets, supporting charitable interests, providing for minors and individuals with special needs and drafting wills and trusts to achieve those objectives. In addition, he assists executors and trustees in the administration of decedent's trusts and litigates Orphan's Court matters including will contests, guardianships, adoptions and estate administration disputes. Mr. Carl previously served as chairman of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Committee for Individuals with Disabilities and has participated in the drafting of Pennsylvania guardianship and living wills statutes. Mr. Carl is a member of the American Bar Association and Pennsylvania Bar Association and their Business Law and Real Property, Probate and Trust Sections. He is also a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association (Program Committee Chair, Business Law Section). Mr. Carl was named as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer from 2005 to 2008 by Law and Politics. He is an adjunct professor at Duquesne University. Mr. Carl received his B.A. degree from the University of Virginia and his J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He is president of the Virginia Club of Pittsburgh. SCOTT R. DISMUKES is a partner with the Pittsburgh law firm of Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC, where he practices in the area of environmental law. He earned his B.A. degree from Michigan State University and his J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He was assistant regional counsel, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region V and was a law clerk to the Hon. Justin M. Johnson, superior court of Pennsylvania. Mr. Dismukes is a frequent speaker on environmental and land use topics to various professionals. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and Ohio State bar associations, the State Bar of Michigan, the Allegheny County Bar Association, the Water Environment Federation and the Air and Waste Management Association. JAMES A. PELLOW III is a member of Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC, where he focuses his practice in the areas of commercial real estate, corporate and business law, finance, contracts and energy law. He represents clients engaged in real estate development and construction, office and retail leasing, commercial financing and oil and gas developments. Mr. Pellow represents oil and gas producers and operators in the leasing, farmout and assignment of oil and gas interests. He also represents landowners in the negotiation of leases and other agreements for oil and gas exploration and production, in oil and gas interests ranging from 30 to 30,000 acres. Mr. Pellow is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania bar associations and the Energy and Mineral Law Foundation. He received his B.A. degree from The Pennsylvania State University and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. CARL F. STAIGER is a partner with Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, PC, where he concentrates his practice in corporate and securities law and taxation, with an emphasis in oil and gas matters. He represents oil and gas producers and property owners in connection with the acquisition and disposition of oil and gas interests, certifying title, joint development and exploration agreements, mineral conveyances, drilling agreements, services agreements, regulatory matters, dispute resolution and related tax planning. He earned his B.S. degree, cum laude, from Rutgers College, his L.L.M. degree from Temple University School of Law and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Widener School of Law.
