SHARON L. CAFFREY is a partner with Duane Morris LLP. Ms. Caffrey is co-chair of the Products Liability and Toxic Torts division of Duane Morris' Trial Practice Group. Ms. Caffrey concentrates her practice in the areas of mass tort, products liability and toxic tort litigation. Ms. Caffrey's experience ranges from serving as the national coordinating counsel for Pliva, Inc. in its PPA litigation, to serving as one of two science defense coordinators and one of a handful of national trial counsel for Ford Motor Company and General Motors Corporation in their asbestos litigation, to handling major asbestos trials around the country for Ford Motor Company. Ms. Caffrey has significant trial experience, including extensive experience as MDL counsel in both asbestos and PPA litigation. Ms. Caffrey also consults with clients about the new Medicare Section 111 reporting requirements. Ms. Caffrey's extensive trial experience also includes trying dozens of product liability, mass tort, health effects and medical negligence cases to verdict. She has spoken at the Mealey's Asbestos Litigation Seminar and the American Conference Institute Asbestos Litigation Seminar. Ms. Caffrey is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and has served as a vice chair of the Toxic Tort and Environmental Law Committee of the American Bar Association. She is co-chair of the Women's Rights Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association and also is a member of the association's Committee on Women in the Profession and Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention, as well as the board of the Public Interest Section. She also is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Ms. Caffrey also chairs Duane Morris' Women's Initiative and co-chaired the first Lexis-Nexis conference on Advancing Women in the Profession. In addition, Ms. Caffrey is a member of Duane Morris' Diversity and Inclusion Committee. She was listed in Pennsylvania Super Lawyers for Class Actions and Mass Tort Litigation in 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2010. Ms. Caffrey is a graduate of Widener University School of Law and a graduate of American University. JOSEPH CAGNOLI JR. is a shareholder with Segal McCambridge. Mr. Cagnoli has concentrated his practice in the areas of toxic tort and environmental litigation including asbestos, oil and gas/hydraulic fracturing and mold matters. In addition to his extensive toxic tort/environmental practice, Mr. Cagnoli also counsels clients in public entity liability, art/entertainment and general liability matters. He has served as national coordinating counsel for a high tech corporation, defending their toxic tort litigation nationwide since 2002. He has handled all aspects of case management and analysis, witness deposition, expert development, settlement negotiation and trial. He is a frequent speaker on toxic tort litigation. Mr. Cagnoli is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board (Senior Hearing Committee Member (2003-2009)) and the Philadelphia Bar Association. He received his B.A. degree from Dickinson College and his J.D. degree from Widener University School of Law, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. STEVEN J. COOPERSTEIN has been with Brookman, Rosenberg, Brown & Sandler since 1989. He is a 1974 graduate of Williams College, and a 1977 graduate of Villanova University School of Law. After receiving his J.D. degree, Mr. Cooperstein became an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia, where he served until 1986. During his tenure in the District Attorney's Office, he handled hundreds of appeals, filing briefs and presenting arguments in the Pennsylvania Supreme and Superior Courts, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States. In addition, for a period of time, Mr. Cooperstein supervised the District Attorney's responses to petitions for writ of habeas corpus filed by sentenced prisoners in the United States District Court. At the time he left the District Attorney's Office for private practice, he was chief of the Legislation Unit. From 1986 until 1989, Mr. Cooperstein was with the Philadelphia firm of White and Williams, working in its commercial litigation department. In 1989, he assumed his current position. Over the years, he has done extensive pretrial and post trial work in all areas of the firm's cases, including filing briefs and presenting oral arguments in the appellate courts of Pennsylvania on behalf of dozens of seriously injured plaintiffs. In 2010, Mr. Cooperstein was named a Philadelphia Super Lawyer, meaning he was selected by his peers as being among the top five percent of practicing attorneys in Pennsylvania. ROBERT P. CORBIN is one of the founding partners of German, Gallagher & Murtagh and is in charge of the firm's toxic torts practice group. He has substantial experience in managing thousands of cases in which he has defended manufacturers, suppliers and installers of a wide variety of asbestos-containing products. He has served as national coordinating counsel for two of the firm's clients. Mr. Corbin also has substantial trial experience, having served as lead defense counsel in the trials of numerous consolidated asbestos-related personal injury actions. He has substantial trial experience relating to the defense of childhood lead poisoning claims and was actively involved for the defense in the recent latex glove litigation. More recently, clients have sought his services to manage and defend the benzene litigation. In addition to his particular experience in toxic torts litigation, Mr. Corbin also has prepared and tried a wide variety of other matters, including general negligence, motor vehicle, products liability, professional malpractice and insurance coverage. He is a member of the Philadelphia and American (Torts and Insurance Practice Section) bar associations, as well as the Defense Research Institute and the Pennsylvania Defense Institute. Mr. Corbin received his A.B. degree, magna cum laude, from Dickinson College and his J.D. degree from Cornell University. RALPH J. LUONGO has served as Christie, Pabarue, Mortensen and Young's managing shareholder, since October 2003. In that capacity, he leads the firm's management committee and is a member of the firm's Board of Directors. Mr. Luongo also is an active trial attorney, leading a team of attorneys and other professionals who litigate complex commercial, insurance coverage and general liability matters. Mr. Luongo's trial experience includes many major jury and non-jury trials taken to verdict, as well as more than 100 matters tried before panels of arbitrators. Mr. Luongo has litigated complex multi-party insurance coverage and bad-faith disputes venued in jurisdictions throughout the country, and has tried cases in state and federal courts involving allegations of liability arising from products, premises (including design defects), motor vehicles, aviation, restaurant operations (including dram shop liability), and municipal services and facilities. Prior to joining the private sector, Mr. Luongo served as an Assistant City Solicitor in the Litigation Division - Appellate Unit of the City of Philadelphia Law Department. Mr. Luongo has published articles on the topic of commercial property owners' liability for, and defenses to, claims of failure to provide adequate security. As a former treasurer and board member of a community association, Mr. Luongo has counseled on civic association duties and potential liabilities, and litigated matters involving municipal zoning. He received his B.A. degree from Cornell University and his J.D. degree from Washington and Lee University. PETER J. LYNCH is a shareholder with Christie, Pabarue, Mortensen and Young. He has practiced law since 1980 as a trial lawyer representing defendants in civil litigation. Mr. Lynch has extensive experience in jury and non-jury trials in both federal and state courts throughout the United States. In recent years, he has concentrated on the defense of health care professionals in medical negligence cases, builders and developers in construction defect litigation, and has continued his long involvement in toxic tort litigation. Through this work, Mr. Lynch has had experience in locating, preparing and presenting expert witnesses in many different medical and technical fields. He also has worked in the defense of corporate clients as part of a national defense team, and in representation of those clients in large national class actions. Mr. Lynch has significant experience working with corporate litigation counsel to devise and carry out discovery and trial strategies. He is chair of the firm's toxic tort practice group, and currently represents several of the firm's clients involved in asbestos and other toxic tort litigation in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Mr. Lynch also has prepared and tried to verdict environmental insurance coverage cases, representing insurers in cases brought by large corporate policyholders involving multiple environmental liabilities. He earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Harvard University, his M.Phil degree from the University College, London, England and his J.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. BRADLEY J. MORTENSEN is a founding shareholder of Christie, Pabarue, Mortensen and Young and serves as chair of the insurance practices department. He has represented insurance company clients in insurance coverage disputes since 1988. The primary focus of his practice is commercial contract litigation, coverage analysis, litigation of coverage disputes, and the negotiation and resolution of intra-insurance company disputes and disputes between policyholders and carriers. Mr. Mortensen's practice encompasses environmental matters, toxic torts, directors and officers liability, errors and omissions, first and third-party property disputes, and reinsurance litigation. Mr. Mortensen also has extensive experience in defending public entities in highway design, general liability and eminent domain cases. Mr. Mortensen is admitted to the Bars of the State of New York and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern District, Eastern District and Southern District of New York and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. A frequent speaker at professional conferences, Mr. Mortensen is often asked to speak on bad faith, allocation and the complex interrelationship between, and the corresponding duties of, primary and excess carriers. In 1992, Mr. Mortensen, Mr. Christie and Mr. Pabarue (then with the Philadelphia law firm of Clark, Ladner, Fortenbaugh & Young) joined with James A. Since the firm's inception, Mr. Mortensen has served as a team leader, chair of the insurance department and a member of the firm's Board of Directors and Management Committee. From 1978 to 1981, Judge Robreno served as a trial attorney in the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. From 1981 to 1992, he was in private practice in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Judge Robreno was appointed to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on June 30, 1992.
