MINDY COHEN, MSN, RN, LNCC, is a legal nurse consultant and owner of the Villanova firm of Mindy Cohen & Associates, Nursing and Medical-Legal Consultants, in operation since 1995. Her firm offers medical litigation support services, including medical record review, locating/working with experts, discovery and trial support, pain and suffering, life care plans and cost projections, attending medical exams, Medicare Set Aside, etc. Ms. Cohen's areas of practice include medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability, toxic tort, workers' compensation, criminal cases. Her services are offered to law firms, insurance companies, government agencies and risk management departments. Ms. Cohen has more than 25 years of diverse nursing experience in the hospital, home care and rehabilitation settings. She has been a staff nurse and administrator in all three arenas, having held leadership and decision-making positions on such committees as Safety, Risk Management and Quality Improvement/Assurance. Ms. Cohen has taught nursing students at two Philadelphia area universities. She holds her LNCC, legal nurse consulting certification, from the American Board of Nursing Specialties. Ms. Cohen is an author, conference presenter and active member of professional nursing associations, and has received her B.S.N. and M.S.N. degrees, with honors, from the University of Pennsylvania. CHRISTIAN A. DAVIS is a partner with the law firm of Weber Gallagher Simpson Stapleton Fires & Newby LLP. Mr. Davis devotes the majority of his practice to defending workers' compensation matters in state and federal court on behalf of insurance carriers, self-insured entities and third-party administrators. His workers' compensation practice is limited to Pennsylvania matters while his federal practice involves defending cases brought under the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act and Jones Act. Mr. Davis speaks regularly on the subject of workers' compensation to clients, claims associations and trade groups. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia bar associations. Mr. Davis earned his B.A. degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Widener University School of Law. DANIEL M. FINELLI, M.D., J.D., is a licensed physician, board certified in internal medicine, as well as an experienced trial attorney. He concentrates his trial practice in representing victims of professional negligence, including medical malpractice, wrongful death, and birth trauma cases. Dr. Finelli employs his medical training and clinical experience in representing individuals and families who have been tragically injured due to negligent medical care. Since leaving his active medical practice to become a trial attorney, he has repeatedly obtained significant recoveries on behalf of his clients. Dr. Finelli has tried to verdict more than twenty medical malpractice and wrongful death cases. Initially practicing in Ohio, Dr. Finelli received wide spread recognition for his courtroom results, especially when during one year he obtained one of the top ten highest verdicts in the state of Ohio. He lectures frequently at continuing legal education seminars on medical malpractice litigation. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and a Fellow in the American College of Legal Medicine. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Pennsylvania, his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in vascular medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his academic education with a law degree from the Cleveland State University John Marshall College of Law. ESTHER M. GALLAGHER, M.D., J.D., is a licensed physician and trial attorney with the law firm of Lowenthal & Abrams, P.C. Dr. Gallagher has been an attorney for over 16 years and focuses her practice on medical malpractice, personal injury, professional negligence and products liability. She is a member of the American Association for Justice, Pennsylvania Association for Justice, New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Dr. Gallagher earned her B.A. degree from the University of Delaware, her M.D. degree from Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital and her J.D. degree from Syracuse University College of Law. VALERIE V. PARISI, RN, CRRN, CLCP, has been an active registered nurse for 27 years and is a certified rehabilitation nurse (CRRN) and life care planner (CLCP). Ms. Parisi has been in private practice as a legal nurse consultant for ten years providing general legal nurse consulting services in cases of malpractice, personal injury, product liability and worker's compensation and also provided nursing case management services to insurance carriers. As a life care planner, Ms. Parisi has brought her rehabilitation nursing expertise to cases involving spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, end of life cancer care and geriatric management and has served as a life care planning expert providing expert testimony nationally. Ms. Parisi received her nursing education from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA and received post graduate training in life care planning from the University of Florida. Ms. Parisi has authored chapters on nursing case management and home care nursing in nationally known legal texts and serves as faculty at the University of Delaware's Legal Nurse Consulting Program.
