MITCHELL C. BAKER is a partner in the Portland office of Fisher & Phillips LLP. He has defended a variety of employers in labor and employment law matters in both state and federal courts, as well as before state and federal agencies. He also provides training, advice, and counsel to assist employers to avoid labor and employment problems. Mr. Baker has extensive experience in enforcing non competition agreements and prosecuting Trade Secrets Act violations, as well as defending employers accused of retaliating against employees for exercising protected employment rights. His areas of practice are labor and employment law, non competition enforcement, employment retaliation and employment discrimination. Mr. Baker is a member of the Labor and Employment Section of both the Oregon State Bar and the American Bar Association. He co-wrote "Federal Pleading in Oregon" for the 2002 supplement to the Oregon State Bar CLE Treatise for Federal Civil Pleading and Practice. Mr. Baker also writes a column once a month for the Oregon Daily Journal of Commerce. He earned his B.A. degree from Western Washington University and his J.D. degree from Lewis and Clark College Northwestern School of Law where he was a member of the Law Review: Environmental Law Review. LISA C. BROWN is a member of Bullard Smith Jernstedt Wilson, where she practices in the areas of employment litigation, employment advice and alternative dispute resolution. Ms. Brown is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. Her practice includes providing advice and training for employers regarding employment policies and procedures, employment agreements, federal and state discrimination laws and risk management. Ms. Brown also has extensive federal and state court experience defending claims of wrongful discharge, breach of contract, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, sexual harassment, employment torts and discrimination. She also defends administrative claims before BOLI, EEOC and other agencies. Ms. Brown earned her B.S. degree from Northwestern University and her J.D. degree from George Washington University Law School. JENNA L. MOONEY is a partner in the Portland, Oregon office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP and is an employment law counselor and litigator. She defends employers in wage and hour, wrongful discharge, and discrimination matters, and litigates trade secret and non competition cases. Ms. Mooney helps employers proactively develop and maintain best practices, and trains managers and employees regarding a range of issues, including diversity, harassment and other key topics. She frequently speaks on retaining and managing employees, discrimination in the workplace, wage and hour law, and other issues related to employment law. Ms. Mooney earned her B.A. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and her J.D. degree from the University of Oregon School of Law. She is a member of the Oregon State Bar, the Washington State, Multnomah and American bar associations, and the U.S. District Court, District of Oregon. PAUL M. OSTROFF is a partner at the Portland office of Lane Powell PC. He provides advice and counsel to employers in all phases of labor and employment law, including collective bargaining, labor arbitration, union organizing campaigns, employment discrimination, discipline and discharge, wage and hour, employee benefits, drafting of policies and handbooks, ADA, FMLA, employment contracts, covenants not to compete and occupational safety. Mr. Ostroff represents and advises clients in a variety of industries, such as retail, manufacturing, software, computer technology, transportation, public utilities, hospitality, financial services, apparel and the public sector. He regularly represents employers before federal and state courts and administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries, the California Fair Employment and Housing Commission and the U.S. Department of Labor. Mr. Ostroff earned his A.B. degree from the University of California, Berkeley; his J.D. degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law; and his MBA degree from the University of Chicago. CHARLES J. PATERNOSTER is a partner and chair of the litigation department at Parsons Farnell & Grein, LLP. He is an experienced trial lawyer whose practice focuses on commercial and employment disputes. In recent years, Mr. Paternoster's clients have included multinational billion-dollar companies, Oregon state and municipal entities, and small and large Oregon employers, as well as individuals bringing employment claims in state and federal court. In the employment law arena, he has successfully represented individual plaintiffs and Oregon businesses in claims involving Title VII, the ADEA, the Family Medical Leave Act and Oregon wage and anti-discrimination statutes. Mr. Paternoster is a frequent continuing legal education speaker on topics ranging from employee privacy to civil litigation issues. His work has been published in the Oregon Civil Litigation Manual, Oregon Pleading and Practice and the Oregon State Bar Bulletin.
