TIMOTHY J. HEINSON is a partner in the law firm of Lachenmeier Enloe Rall & Heinson, where he practices in the areas of litigation and insurance, including automobile accidents, construction, landlord-tenant and premises liability. He earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Portland and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Northwestern School of Law. Mr. Heinson is a member of the Oregon State Bar, the Washington State Bar Association, and the U.S. District Courts for the District of Oregon and Eastern Washington. TOM C. HOLMES has worked as a paralegal since 1983, first as a litigation assistant for the Portland, Oregon firm of Lane Powell Spears Lubersky (now known as Lane Powell LLP). He has worked on cases in a variety of areas, including complex litigation, antitrust, intellectual property and environmental contamination litigation. Mr. Holmes currently works for attorney Michael J. Lilly in a solo practice, concentrating on land use and real estate matters, business law, administrative law, with some litigation. Mr. Holmes served as president of the Oregon Paralegal Association from 1995-1998. He also served as OPA's primary representative to the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) from 2005-2008. Mr. Holmes served on the NFPA Ethics Board from 2004 to 2009, assisting in the preparation of ethics opinions and responding to questions from members. He has presented several CLE programs on litigation, using computers for tracking documents, ethics in discovery and other topics. Recently, he presented a CLE on the attorney-client privilege and the Attorney Work Product Doctrine under the general area of written discovery in litigation. He graduated in 1979 from Vassar College with a B.S. degree in Psychology. JULIETTE C. HORWITZ is a paralegal in the litigation practice group at Sussman Shank LLP, and specializes in environmental litigation. Her work focuses on hazardous waste clean-up, superfund clean-up, toxic tort claims, environmental regulatory compliance and permitting. Ms. Horwitz assists attorneys with cost recovery, contribution cases and environmental issues in real estate and business transactions. In addition, she also has experience with conducting environmental research, as well as reviewing and distilling vast amounts of environmental documents. She has managed complex cases and large litigation databases. Prior to joining Sussman Shank LLP in 2006, Ms. Horwitz worked as a paralegal at two of New York City most prestigious law firms: Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett LLP and Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP. In 2008, she was appointed as the Sustainability Coordinator for the firm. This five member committee is dedicated to developing and implementing sustainable protocol and practices within the firm. This includes paper consumption and recycling, waste, commuting, and other sustainable initiatives. Ms. Horwitz earned her B.A. degree, with honors, from the University of Chicago. MARCELA SASIK is a case manager at Forensic Building Consultants, where she focuses on managing construction defect cases in litigation. Ms. Sasik has more than 15 years of experience in many areas of litigation, including construction litigation, construction defect claims, employment and discrimination claims, corporate and securities litigation, and real estate and land use claims. Ms. Sasik has experience in both state and federal court, including Oregon, Washington, California, and Idaho. As a case manager at a construction consulting firm, she assists the attorneys at various law firms with all aspects of construction defect litigation, including interviewing witnesses and clients, conducting research, preparing consulting experts for testimony, preparing trial presentations, and developing trial strategy. Ms. Sasik assists with settlement negotiations, expert meetings, mediations, and trials. She is skilled in the analysis of facts and issues in each case. Ms. Sasik's organizational skills enable her to control large-volume document production and efficiently manage the cases to which she is assigned. She graduated from Portland State University with a B.S. degree in political science.
