HON. H.J. BRESSLER was elected to the Twelfth District Court of Appeals in November 2004. Prior to taking a seat on the appellate bench, Judge Bressler served on the General Division of the Butler County Court of Common Pleas for eight years. He also sat as a County Court Judge in Butler County from 1981 through 1996. In addition, Judge Bressler was engaged in the private practice of law from 1968 to 1997. He is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and earned his law degree from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law. Judge Bressler is a past president of the Butler County Bar Association, the Ohio Municipal and County Judges' Association, and the Greater Hamilton Trial Lawyers Association. He currently serves as a member on numerous boards and associations in the legal community. Judge Bressler was appointed by Chief Justice Thomas Moyer to serve as vice chairman of the Ohio Criminal Sentencing Commission and as chairman of the Ohio Juvenile Sentencing Committee. He also was appointed by Justice Evelyn Stratton to serve on the Supreme Court of Ohio's Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline. HON. PENELOPE R. CUNNINGHAM is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where she earned her B.A. and J.D. degrees. Judge Cunningham was appointed to the Hamilton County Domestic Relations Court in 1995, was elected to that bench in 1996 and re-elected in 2002. She was elected to the First District Court of Appeals in November 2006. Before being elected to the bench, Judge Cunningham's professional experience included maintaining a private practice, service as a Referee in the Court of Domestic Relations for more than six years, followed by service as an Assistant Hamilton County Prosecutor. She is a past officer and Trustee with the Ohio Association of Domestic Relations Judges. Judge Cunningham has been a member on the Domestic Relations Law and Procedures Committee for the Ohio Judicial Conference and has served on several committees and educational panels for the Ohio Judicial College. HON. MIKE FAIN was elected to the Second District Court of Appeals in 1986. Judge Fain earned his B.A. degree from Yale College and his J.D. degree from University of Pennsylvania Law School with American Jurisprudence awards in Constitutional Law and International Law. He has been a lecturer in law and legal-related topics and has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Dayton Law School. Judge Fain was chair of the Criminal Law and Procedure Committee of the Ohio Judicial Conference, and served on the Supreme Court's Rules Advisory Committee, including one year as chair. He was Chief Justice of the Courts of Appeals Judges Association in 2005. Judge Fain currently serves on the Public Confidence and Public Outreach Committee of the Ohio Judicial Conference, the Unjust Criticism of Judges and Judicial Independence Committee of the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Appellate Practice committees of the Dayton and Ohio State bar associations. HON. SYLVIA SIEVE HENDON graduated from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law. After three years of private practice Judge Hendon was appointed as Referee in the Hamilton County Juvenile Court, serving the last year as Chief Referee. Judge Hendon was elected to the Hamilton County Municipal Court bench, where she served for ten years, her last two years as Administrative and Presiding Judge. In January 1993 she was appointed to the Juvenile Court bench, serving as Presiding Judge from 1998 through November 2004. Judge Hendon was elected to the First District Court of Appeals in November 2004. Her judicial and professional contributions include her service to the Ohio Association of Juvenile Court Judges as President in 2002, President-Elect in 2001 and Treasurer in 2000 and 1999. HON. LEE H. HILDEBRANDT JR. was elected to the court in 1984 at the age of 37. He was re-elected in 1990, 1996, 2002 and again in 2008. Judge Hildebrandt earned his B.A. degree from the University of Cincinnati and his J.D. degree from the University of Toledo. Upon admission to the bar in 1972, he was in private practice until he became an Assistant Hamilton County Prosecutor in 1978. Judge Hildebrandt then served as a Referee in the Domestic Relations Court until taking his seat on the Appellate Bench. He has been and continues to be active in numerous professional and community organizations. Judge Hildebrandt currently serves on the Board of Trustees of ProKids of Cincinnati and is past president of the Lawyers Club of Cincinnati. Judge Hildebrandt also is the past chief justice of the Ohio Court of Appeals Judges Association. HON. ROBERT P. RINGLAND is currently a Judge of the Twelfth District Court of Appeals in Middletown, Ohio. Judge Ringland had been a Common Pleas Judge for 26 years. Prior to serving as a Common Pleas Judge, he was a County Court Judge for six years, an assistant prosecuting attorney for three years and a practicing attorney for eleven years. During his tenure as Common Pleas Judge, Judge Ringland has presided over numerous high profile and controversial cases. His public service has included serving as former chairman of the Ohio Victims of Crime, Public Awareness Advisory Council, a member of the Governor's Task Force on Investigation and Prosecution of Child Abuse and Child Sex Abuse Cases and a peer review consultant for the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as past president of the Common Pleas Judges Association. Judge Ringland is a frequent lecturer of the Ohio Judicial College, as well as an instructor at the University of Cincinnati in Criminal Justice and the National Judicial College. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University and the University of Cincinnati Law School. MODERATOR - PAUL M. De MARCO is a civil litigator who has practiced since 1989 with Waite, Schneider, Bayless & Chesley Co., L.P.A. Prior to joining the firm, he was associated with an appellate law firm in Beverly Hills, California, and served as a law clerk for two California appellate judges. Mr. De Marco's areas of concentration are appellate practice, class actions, and other complex litigation. He has been actively involved in successful litigation related to the U.S. Department of Energy's Fernald nuclear weapons plant, the Lucasville (Ohio) prison riot, Lloyd's of London, Holocaust-related claims against Swiss and Austrian banks, the Bankers Trust derivative scheme, Cincinnati's Aronoff Center, and defective childhood vaccines, among others. Mr. De Marco earned his J.D. degree from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific. He is a member of the Federal, Ohio State, Cincinnati and American bar associations, and the State Bar of California. Mr. De Marco is secretary of the Collaborative Law Center, a member of the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline of the Supreme Court of Ohio, board member of the Ohio Justice and Policy Center, and he is on the Cincinnati Citizens Police Review Panel.
