HON. PETER J. CORRIGAN is a judge with the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court where he presides over Courtroom 19-C. Judge Corrigan has served on the Common Pleas bench since 2004. HON. RICHARD J. McMONAGLE has served on the Cuyahoga Common Pleas Court since January 1979. Prior to assuming the bench, Judge McMonagle practiced as a civil litigator for 11 years. Judge McMonagle earned his undergraduate degree at Villanova University and his J.D. degree at Case Western Reserve University. HON. JOHN J. RUSSO has served on the Cuyahoga Common Pleas Court since January 2005. Prior to assuming the bench, Judge Russo practiced as a civil and criminal litigator for 12 years in his own law practice. Judge Russo earned his B.S.B.A. degree at John Carroll University and his J.D. degree at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Currently, he is serving as committee chairperson for the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Security Committee; committee person for the Ohio Judicial Conference Court Administration Committee and the Judicial Advisory Committee; vice chair of the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Bar Association Litigation Section; and as president-elect of the Legal Eagles St. Edward High School Community and St. Ed Alumni Association Board. Judge Russo volunteers as a judge in the Ohio Mock Trial State & Local Competitions, is active in a teaching capacity for the Ohio Supreme Court Judicial College, the Ohio Common Pleas Judges Association, National Business Institute, the Cleveland Metro Bar Association and the Cleveland-Marshall Alumni Association. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and the Cleveland-Marshall Law Alumni Association. Judge Russo also has been active with the Judicial Legislative Exchange Program, the Lawyer to Lawyer Mentoring Program and the 3R's Program with Cleveland Municipal School District. Judge Russo is a member of the American Inns of Court, a trustee of the Justinian Forum, a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America (I.S.D.A.), and a member of the Advisory Board for the Parent2Parent Network. He also is on the Board of Directors for the Cystic Fibrosis Rainbow Chapter. As a member of the bench, Judge Russo participates with the Life Skills Center of Lake Erie as a guest speaker and hosts various middle school and high school age children as they come to court and experience "a day in the life of a judge." HON. JANET R. BURNSIDE has served on the Cuyahoga Common Pleas Court since January 1991. Prior to assuming the bench, Judge Burnside served as acting judge for Cleveland Heights Municipal Court for six years and practiced as a Civil Litigator for 13 years. Judge Burnside earned her B.S. degree, cum laude, her M.S. degree and her J.D. degree, cum laude, at The Ohio State University. HON. DAVID T. MATIA is a judge with the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court where he presides over Courtroom 17-D. Judge Matia is in his tenth year as a judge in Cuyahoga County's General Division. His service as a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (fka Cuyahoga County Bar Association) Certified Grievance Committee dates to 2000. He wrote a quarterly column for Law and Fact magazine, and served as a trustee for the Cuyahoga County Bar Association from 2002 to 2005, and again in 2007. Judge Matia was selected to participate in the inaugural class of ASTAR (Advanced Scientific and Technology Adjudication Resource) program in 2005. He was named an ASTAR Fellow in October 2006. He also has completed the annual Justice Institute for the Legal Profession. Judge Matia is a frequent lecturer for the Ohio State, Cleveland and Cuyahoga County bar associations. He spoke at the summer 2006 meeting of the Ohio Common Pleas Judges Association on the topic of felony sentencing post Foster. Prior to assuming the bench, Judge Matia practiced law in both Ohio and Kentucky, handling both defense and plaintiff civil cases. He is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law, most recently serving as secretary to their Law Board of Governors. He also is a graduate of Miami University. HON. JOHN P. O'DONNELL has served on the Cuyahoga Common Pleas Court since January 2002. Judge O'Donnell is serving his second term as a judge of the General Division of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. He is one of only five judges on the court handling cases on the mental health docket. Besides presiding over jury and bench trials, Judge O'Donnell has the unique perspective of having tried cases as both defense and plaintiff's counsel. He graduated with a J.D. degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law after earning an undergraduate degree at Miami (Ohio) University. MODERATOR - RICHARD McLAIN GARNER is a partner with Davis & Young, an 85 year old law firm with regional offices in Cleveland, Akron, Youngstown and Warren, Ohio. Prior to joining Davis & Young, Mr. Garner served as a magistrate in Delaware County and as a prosecutor in Delaware County. Since joining the firm, Mr. Garner has specialized in insurance coverage, appellate practice and complex litigation. MODERATOR - JAN L. ROLLER, a partner with Davis & Young, specializes in personal injury and medical malpractice defense litigation. She is a master bencher of the Celebreeze Inns of Court, a member of the Society of Benchers of Case Western Reserve School of Law, and a life member and former co-chair of the 8th District Judicial Conference. Ms. Roller is the immediate past president of the Cleveland Bar Foundation and vice president of the Cleveland City Club.
