HON. PAUL J. BAISLEY JR. is a Supreme Court Justice in the10th Judicial District in Suffolk County. He was elected to office in 1998. Prior to his current office, Justice Baisley served as acting judge, County Court, appointed by Hon. Guy James Mangano; and as judge of the 3rd District Court in Suffolk County. Justice Baisley also served as the bureau chief for the Office of the Suffolk County Attorney and as assistant district attorney in the Office of the Suffolk County District Attorney. Justice Baisley earned his B.A. degree at Dickinson College and his J.D. degree at New York Law School. HON. STEPHEN A. BUCARIA is a Supreme Court Justice in Nassau County. He was elected to the Supreme Court in 1996. Justice Bucaria earned his B.A. degree at Fairfield University, his M.A. degree at S.U.N.Y. at Albany and his J.D. degree at Hofstra University School of Law. HON. R. BRUCE COZZENS JR. is a New York Supreme Court Justice in Nassau County Supreme Court. Justice Cozzens was elected to the Supreme Court in 1997. He serves as an adjunct professor at Hofstra University School of Law where he teaches pretrial skills. Prior to the bench, Justice Cozzens entered private practice in 1981 and practiced in the areas of negligence and personal injury with McCabe & Cozzens. He earned his B.A. degree at the University of Virginia and his J.D. degree at Pace University. Justice Cozzens is a member of the Association of Supreme Court Justices. HON. JERRY GARGUILO is a Justice of the New York Supreme Court in Suffolk County. Justice Garguilo was elected to the bench in 2009. He began his private law practice in 1977. Justice Garguilo earned his B.A. degree at St. Francis College - Loretto and his J.D. degree at Duquesne University. HON. EDWARD W. McCARTY III is a Supreme Court Justice in Nassau County. He was elected to the Supreme Court in 1992 and in 2005. Justice McCarty previously served as a judge in the Nassau County District Court from 1985 to 1990. He also served as an assistant district attorney in Nassau County, from 1972 to 1985 and as a special prosecutor for the Judicial Inquiry of Professional Conduct, from 1971 to 1972. Justice McCarty earned his B.S. degree at Siena College and his J.D. Degree at St. John's University School of Law. He is a member of the Supreme Court Judge's Association. HON. F. DANA WINSLOW is a Supreme Court Justice in Nassau County. Justice Winslow was elected to the Supreme Court in 1997. Prior to taking the bench he practiced law for 28 years. He is a former adjunct professor at St. Johns School of Business Law and a past president of the Association of Justices of the Supreme Court of the State of New York. Justice Winslow earned his B.A. degree from American University and his J.D. degree from Catholic University School of Law. He has the technological courtroom of the future. MODERATOR - SEAN PATRICK DWYER is a member of the law firm of Havkins Rosenfeld Ritzert & Varriale, LLP, where he practices in the areas of insurance coverage, civil trial, medical malpractice, and construction law and tort litigation. He is an accomplished litigator in the handling of medical malpractice files, and has appeared as trial counsel for both plaintiffs and defendants in all state and federal jurisdictions in the New York area. In addition, Mr. Dwyer currently serves as defense counsel-of-choice for several hospitals in the Long Island region. He has lectured extensively on trial advocacy issues and held training seminars for a number of insurance companies, including CNA Insurance, St. Paul's Insurance and Crum & Forester Insurance. In addition, he also has presented seminars for National Business Institute. Mr. Dwyer is a former assistant district attorney with the New York County District Attorney and a former special assistant attorney general for New York State. He earned his B.A. degree from Manhattan College and his J.D. degree from New York Law School. Mr. Dwyer is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. MODERATOR - SHANNA R. TORGERSON is an attorney with the law firm of Havkins Rosenfeld Ritzert & Varriale, LLP in New York, where she specializes in the areas of professional liability defense, toxic tort litigation, casualty defense, insurance coverage, international law and white collar criminal defense litigation. She is an accomplished litigator and has appeared as counsel in both federal and state venues in complex matters. Ms. Torgerson has lectured extensively on litigation issues and has presented risk management seminars for municipal entities and insurance associations. She earned her B.A. degree from Hamline University and her J.D. degree from Syracuse University College of Law. Ms. Torgerson is a member of several professional organizations including the New York State Bar Association, United States Green Building Council and the Association for Healthcare Risk Management of New York.
