EARL K. CANTWELL is an attorney with the law firm of Hurwitz & Fine, P.C., where he practices in civil litigation, commercial litigation and employment law litigation. He has lectured numerous times in his areas of expertise. Mr. Cantwell earned his B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Canisius College and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the Erie County (served on the board of volunteer lawyers' project), the New York State (Business Law Section) and American bar associations, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association. JOHN G. HORN is the managing partner of the Buffalo office of Harter Secrest & Emery LLP, where he has a general business litigation practice. His litigation experience has run the gamut of business disputes from intellectual property infringement to construction litigation to restrictive covenant enforcement to derivative shareholder actions to environmental and land use litigation. Mr. Horn has extensive trial and appellate court experience, including two successful appeals to the New York State Court of Appeals within the past two years. He has presented at CLE seminars on a variety of topics, including deposition strategies, electronic discovery, multi-jurisdictional practice, legal ethics, expert evidence, legal ethics and protecting trade secrets and confidential information. Mr. Horn is a past recipient of the New York State Bar Association's Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year Award and the U.S. District Court, Western District of New York's Pro Bono Special Service Award. He earned his B.A. degree from the University of Rochester, his J.D. degree from Loyola University Chicago and his M.A. degree from Northwestern University. Mr. Horn is a Trustee for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Board Member of the National Federation of Just Communities of Western New York, and a former confidential law clerk to the late United States District Judge John T. Elfvin. PAUL D. McCORMICK is a litigator and trial lawyer with the law firm of Goldberg Segalla LLP, with more than 13 years of experience defending corporations and insurance companies in cases involving motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, products liability, complex toxic tort liability and New York worksite injuries. He has been named to both Buffalo Law Journal 's and Business First's 2007 "Who's Who in Law," and Law & Politics magazine's "New York Super Lawyers" 2007. Mr. McCormick practices in courts throughout New York, including the state's appellate courts, and is admitted to practice law before the U.S. District Court for the Western and Northern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. Mr. McCormick is a member of DRI, the Defense Trial Lawyers Association of Western New York, the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association, the New York State Bar Association and the Erie County Bar Association. He recently wrote " Countering Plaintiff's Attempts to Maximize Damages: Communicating with Jurors about Money," an article published in the September 2007 issue of DRI's For The Defense magazine. He is a frequent writer and panelist for continuing legal education seminars on such topics as no-fault insurance coverage, UM/SUM insurance coverage, trial tactics and premises liability. F. DAVID RUSIN is a trial attorney with the Law Offices of William K. Mattar, P.C., where he concentrates his practice on the prosecution of personal injury claims on behalf of injured persons. He has extensive civil trial experience in the areas of personal injury, automobile liability, premises liability and admiralty law. Mr. Rusin is admitted to practice before all courts in New York, the U.S. District Court for the Western and Northern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a frequent lecturer on a wide variety of topics, including issues related to personal injury, automobile liability, torts, ethics and child sex abuse. Mr. Rusin earned his B.A. degree from The State University of New York at Buffalo and J.D. degree from the University of Dayton School of Law.
