THOMAS A. ABBATE practices in Woodbury and concentrates in the areas of zoning, planning, land use and municipal law. A frequent lecturer on land use, Mr. Abbate has previously conducted seminars for National Business Institute, the Suffolk County Bar Association and Touro Law School. During his career, he has represented major international and national corporations in land use matters, as well as numerous municipal zoning boards including the Town of Huntington, the Village of Northport and the Town of Oyster Bay. Mr. Abbate earned his B.A. degree from the State University of New York at Albany and his J.D. degree from St. John's University. CHRISTOPHER D. KELLEY is a senior partner with Twomey, Latham, Shea, Kelley, Dubin & Quartararo LLP. For more than 20 years, Mr. Kelley has litigated at both the trial and appellate levels. His experience also includes administrative litigation before the Department of Environmental Conservation and numerous town boards, planning boards, and zoning boards of appeal on Long Island. Mr. Kelley has served on the faculty of numerous bar association continuing legal education seminars in the areas of civil procedure, land use and environmental law. He is a former chairman of the East Hampton Town Zoning Board of Appeals and served for 19 years as chairman of the East Hampton Town Democratic Committee. Mr. Kelley is president of the Springs School Board and has served on numerous boards of directors for local and Long Island wide charities and not-for-profits including as Junior Warden and Treasurer of St. Luke's Church in East Hampton. He earned his B.A. degree, with honors, from the College of William and Mary and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from New York Law School. MICHAEL H. SAHN is the founding partner of the Uniondale law firm of Sahn Ward Coschignano & Baker, PLLC, and concentrates his practice in the areas of zoning, land use planning, real estate law and transactions, corporate and environmental law. Mr. Sahn also represents the firm's clients in all facets of civil litigation. He has lectured before various professional groups on real estate, zoning and planning issues. Mr. Sahn is a trustee of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, Inc., Manhasset, New York, and a director of Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, New York. He also is chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals of the incorporated Village of Flower Hill and serves on the advisory board of the Chicago Title Insurance Company. Mr. Sahn is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, where he previously has served as chairman of the Administrative Agencies Committee. He earned his B.A. degree, with high distinction, from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law. JOHN M. WAGNER is a partner of Certilman, Balin, Adler & Hyman, L.L.P., in East Meadow and Hauppauge, New York, and has more than 20 years of experience representing both private and municipal clients in a wide range of real property, zoning, land use and environmental law matters in the five "east end" towns of Suffolk County, the towns of Hempstead, Brookhaven, and Islip, and several villages in Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties. Mr. Wagner has served as special counsel to the Village of Greenport Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals and as counsel to the Planning Board of the Town of Shelter Island. He also has been involved in several prominent lawsuits regarding zoning and land use issues, including the Long Island Pine Barrens Society litigation that preceded adoption of the New York State "Long Island Pine Barrens Protection Act," cases involving the validity of municipal zoning legislation, and cases involving environmental review of zoning and land use actions pursuant to the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act ("SEQRA"), regulatory takings, and related constitutional issues. Mr. Wagner earned his A.B. degree from Vassar College and his J.D. degree from The American University, Washington College of Law. He is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association.
