DONNA J. BYRNE is a law librarian with the Syracuse law firm of Hancock & Estabrook, LLP, where she is responsible for conducting research and reference services including preparation of bibliographies, data base searches and Internet and CD-Rom. Ms. Byrne earned her B.S. and M.L.S. degrees from the School of Information Studies, Syracuse University. She is a member of the Association of Law Libraries of Upstate New York and the American Association of Law Libraries. (Syracuse location) JEAN CALLIHAN is head of research services at Cornell Law Library in Ithaca, New York, where she teaches first year legal research, advanced legal research techniques and business law research. Ms. Callihan has been a lecturer in law at Cornell University School of Law for more than nine years. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of Notre Dame, her J.D. degree from the Pennsylvania State Dickinson School of Law, and her M.S.L.S. degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Callihan is a member of the American Association of Law Librarians and the Association of Law Libraries of Upstate New York. (Syracuse location) ELAINE KNECHT is the director of information resources of Hiscock & Barclay, LLP, a firm with offices throughout New York State including New York City, Boston, Washington DC and Toronto. Her responsibilities include the management of libraries and librarians in all offices, electronic resources maintenance, and both legal and extra-legal research. Ms. Knecht lectures on computer technology, internet and legal research, and has taught information literacy and basic research skills at the college level. Ms. Knecht is the current president of the Association of Law Librarians of Upstate New York, which is a chapter of the American Association of Law Libraries. She is a regular contributor to the ALLUNY Newsletter, the chapter's quarterly publication. The newsletter One Person Library and The National Paralegal Reporter have published several of her articles. She was recently published by the Law Library Journal and Legal Information Alert. Ms. Knecht earned her M.F.A. degree and her M.L.S. (master of library science) degree from the State University of New York in Buffalo. (Buffalo location) LAURA W. SMALLEY is a member of Harris Beach PLLC, where she practices in the business and commercial litigation, intellectual property and appellate litigation and advocacy practice groups, and serves on the nanotechnology industry team and e-info electronic information counseling and management team. She focuses her legal practice on technology development and exploitation, including the enforcement of intellectual property rights. Ms. Smalley regularly supports the intellectual property practice group in on-going litigation cases involving computer language technology, the electrical components industry and imaging technology. She also prosecutes patents in the chemical field. Ms. Smalley also performs appellate work in both New York state and federal appellate courts. Ms. Smalley is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office with a technical background in chemistry, including organic and analytical chemistry. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of Florida and her J.D. degree from Cornell University. Ms. Smalley is a member of the Monroe County Bar Association Fee Arbitration Committee and the Greater Rochester Association of Women Attorneys, where she served on the Judicial Evaluation Committee. Ms. Smalley received the McKnight Award in 2006 for her pro bono legal work. In 2008, she was selected one of Rochester's Up & Coming Attorneys by The Daily Record. (Syracuse and Buffalo locations) CYNDI A. TREMBLEY has been with the Rochester firm of Harris Beach PLLC since 1997, most recently in the position of Manager of Computer Research Services. Her past positions include an 18 year position as a reference librarian with a law firm in Syracuse and part-time positions with Syracuse University School of Law and a solo practitioner. Professional activities include service as past president of the Association of Law Libraries of Upstate New York (ALLUNY). Since 1993, she has spoken on internet issues and resources for library groups, attorneys, law students and before such groups as the New York State Bar Association and the Institute for Paralegal Education. More recently she has presented on social networking issues to clients and in-house attorneys. She is a regular contributor to Rochester's The Daily Record. Recent columns focused on websites for tracking government spending and the U.S. Supreme Court. (Syracuse and Buffalo locations)
