ROY W. BREITENBACH is a partner with the law firm of Garfunkel Wild, P.C., where he practices in the areas of commercial litigation, real estate and healthcare litigation. He has lectured on his areas of practice for the National Academy of Law, Greater New York Hospital Association, HealthCare Financial Management Association at St. John's University and the Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Corporation. Mr. Breitenbach is an editor for, and has had an article published in, the St. John's Law Review, titled " Perpich v. United States Department of Defense: Who Controls the Weekend Soldier." He also has written articles published by the Nassau Lawyer. He earned his B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from St. John's University and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from St. John's University. Mr. Breitenbach is a member of the New York State and American bar associations and the Nassau County Bar. Prior to law school, he worked as a title examiner, clearance officer and claims investigator. SEAN PATRICK DWYER is a member of the law firm of Havkins Rosenfeld Ritzert & Varriale, LLP, where he practices in the areas of insurance coverage, civil trial, medical malpractice, construction law and tort litigation. He is an accomplished litigator in the handling of medical malpractice files, and has appeared as trial counsel for both plaintiffs and defendants in all state and federal jurisdictions in the New York area. In addition, Mr. Dwyer currently serves as defense counsel-of-choice for several hospitals in the Long Island region. He has lectured extensively on trial advocacy issues and held training seminars for a number of insurance companies, including CNA Insurance, St. Paul's Insurance and Crum & Forester Insurance. In addition, he also has presented seminars for National Business Institute. Mr. Dwyer is a former assistant district attorney with the New York County District Attorney and a former special assistant attorney general for New York State. He earned his B.A. degree from Manhattan College and his J.D. degree from New York Law School. Mr. Dwyer is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. MICHAEL E. SHAY is a founding partner in the law firm of Shay & Maguire LLP, where he practices in the areas of liability defense litigation, including general, automobile, construction and premises liability. Mr. Shay has been practicing law for 31 years, and has lectured before attorney groups on a variety of topics. He is president of the New York City Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the American and New York State bar associations. Mr. Shay earned his B.A. degree from Ithaca College and his J.D. degree from New York Law School. SHANNA R. TORGERSON is an attorney with the law firm of Havkins Rosenfeld Ritzert & Varriale, LLP in New York, where she specializes in the areas of professional liability defense, toxic tort litigation, casualty defense, insurance coverage, international law and white collar criminal defense litigation. She is an accomplished litigator and has appeared as counsel in both federal and state venues in complex matters. Ms. Torgerson has lectured extensively on litigation issues and has presented risk management seminars for municipal entities and insurance associations. She earned her B.A. degree from Hamline University and her J.D. degree from Syracuse University College of Law. Ms. Torgerson is a member of several professional organizations including the New York Stat Bar Association, United States Green Building Council and the Association for Healthcare Risk Management of New York.
