SANDRA N. BUSELL is the senior member of the firm Busell & Stier, PLLC, which maintains offices in Great Neck, New York. She specializes in estate planning with an emphasis on wills, trusts and elder law, including guardianship proceedings and real estate, both residential and commercial. Ms. Busell regularly speaks on elder law, Medicaid planning and guardianships before various retiree groups, senior citizens, the United Cerebral Palsy Center of Queens, The New York City Council for the Aging's annual symposium, the Estate Planning Council of Suffolk County and several retirement communities. She was an adjunct professor at Brooklyn College. In addition to being a practicing attorney, Ms. Busell is a certified public accountant and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. She is a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants and the New York Society of Certified Public Accountants, where she is a member of the Estates and Trust Division. SEAN PATRICK DWYER is a member of the law firm of Havkins Rosenfeld Ritzert & Varriale, LLP, where he practices in the areas of insurance coverage, civil trial, medical malpractice, and construction law and tort litigation. He is an accomplished litigator in the handling of medical malpractice files, and has appeared as trial counsel for both plaintiffs and defendants in all state and federal jurisdictions in the New York area. In addition, Mr. Dwyer currently serves as defense counsel-of-choice for several hospitals in the Long Island region. He has lectured extensively on trial advocacy issues and held training seminars for a number of insurance companies, including CNA Insurance, St. Paul's Insurance and Crum & Forester Insurance. In addition, he also has presented seminars for National Business Institute. Mr. Dwyer is a former assistant district attorney with the New York County District Attorney and a former special assistant attorney general for New York State. He earned his B.A. degree from Manhattan College and his J.D. degree from New York Law School. Mr. Dwyer is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. JEANETTE GRABIE is a partner in the law firm of Grabie & Grabie, LLP in Smithtown, New York. Ms. Grabie concentrates her practice in the areas of elder law; Medicaid qualification for both home care and for nursing home care; financial planning for long term illness; and disability, wills, trusts, and estate planning. She is currently president of the Estate Planning Council of Suffolk County, co-chair of the Elder Law & Trusts and Estates Committee of the Suffolk County Women's Bar Association, and former and co-chair of the Elder Law Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association. Ms. Grabie has been published in Newsday, the New York State Bar Association's elder law newsletter, and the Suffolk County Bar Association's newsletter. She is a speaker for the Suffolk County Bar Association and public service informational programs for senior citizens, including Senior Law Day, sponsored by Senator Englebright, Stony Brook University and the Suffolk Bar. Ms. Grabie is a summa cum laude graduate of Touro Law School. STEVEN A. KASS is a sole practitioner in Melville, New York and concentrates in estate planning and elder law, planning for persons with special needs, wills, trusts, and guardianships. He has lectured to fellow practitioners and the public on elder law, estate planning and Medicaid planning. Mr. Kass is a certified elder law attorney through the National Elder Law Foundation. He earned his B.A. degree from The State University of New York at Stony Brook, and his J.D. degree and a certificate in health law and policy from Pace University School of Law. Mr. Kass is a member of the Nassau County, the Suffolk County, New York State and American bar associations; the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; and is the president of the Gerontology Professionals of New York.
