HON. PATRICK FLANAGAN was elected district court judge for the Second Judicial District Court in Department 7 in 2006. He was reelected in 2008 without opposition. Prior to his election to the bench, Judge Flanagan began working in the Washoe County Public Defender's Office in the appellate division. He rose to chief appellate deputy, practicing before the Nevada Supreme Court, before accepting the position of assistant federal public defender in 1983. In 1998, he joined the state-wide law firm of Hale Lane where he continued an active trial and appellate practice in civil, criminal and administrative law. In June 2003, Judge Flanagan was elected president of the State Bar of Nevada. HON. CONNIE J. STEINHEIMER was elected district court judge for the Second Judicial District Court in Department 4 in 1992. She was reelected in 1996, 2002 and 2008. Within the Second Judicial District Court, Judge Steinheimer serves as the chief judge for the district and chair of the Washoe County Criminal Justice Advisory Committee. Prior to her election to the bench, Judge Steinheimer worked as a deputy district attorney and then entered private practice, specializing in civil and criminal litigation. She has taught criminal and civil procedure, trial practice, jury management, voir dire, managing complex litigation, electronic filing and ethics for the State Bar of Nevada, Nevada Justice Association, Washoe County Bar Association, Oregon Presiding Judges Conference and the American Bar Association. Judge Steinheimer is a past alumna and a current faculty member of the National Judicial College. She is a member of the American and Washoe County bar associations, the American Judges Association, the National Association of Women Judges, the Nevada District Judges Association and the Northern Nevada Women Lawyers Association. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada-Reno and her law degree from Willamette University. HON. JAMES E. WILSON JR. is a district court judge in the First Judicial District Court, a position he has held since 2008. Judge Wilson earned his B.S. degree in accounting from the University of Nevada-Reno. He served as a deputy sheriff in Carson City, working patrol and SWAT team. Judge Wilson attended McGeorge School of Law, and then began his law career as an Elko County deputy district attorney. In 1982, the citizens of Elko County elected him district attorney, and he served in that position until 1986, when he entered the private practice of law. Judge Wilson operated a solo general practice in Carson City from 1988 to 2008, when he assumed his position on the bench. MODERATOR - PAUL J. ANDERSON is a shareholder with the Reno law firm of Maupin, Cox & LeGoy, A Professional Corporation, where he practices in the areas of civil litigation, business litigation and education law. He received his B.S. degree, with distinction, from the University of Nevada and his J.D. degree from Pepperdine University. He has lectured to education professionals on employment rights, special education and other related issues. Mr. Anderson is a member of the Washoe County and American bar associations and the State Bar of Nevada.
