ANTHONY L. BARNEY is the president and sole shareholder of Anthony L. Barney, LTD, where he practices in the areas of estate planning and business planning, including the preparation of wills, revocable living trusts, revocable trusts and irrevocable trusts, including domestic asset protection trusts. He prepares real estate transactions related to estate planning, which include transfers on death deeds (beneficiary deeds), trust deeds and agreements relating to real estate. Mr. Barney assists clients in probate and trust administration, prepares and assists in the preparation of federal estate tax returns and represents fiduciaries in litigation relating to wills, trusts and estate matters. He earned his B.S. degree from Brigham Young University, his M.S. degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and his J.D. degree and LL.M. degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Mr. Barney is licensed to practice law in Nevada and Idaho, and is fluent in the Spanish language. He is a member of the Southern Nevada Estate Planning Council, State Bar of Nevada, Idaho State Bar and serves as a professional advisor to various local charities in the southern Nevada region. JEREMY K. COOPER is an associate attorney at Jeffrey Burr. Mr. Cooper graduated, cum laude, Phi Kappa Phi, with a B.S. degree in accounting from Brigham Young University (BYU). Following the completion of his undergraduate studies, he continued his education at BYU where he earned a Masters Degree in accounting with an emphasis in taxation. Upon graduating from BYU, Jeremy worked as a senior associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP's (PwC) corporate tax group in Silicon Valley. During his time at PwC, Jeremy took and passed the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. After spending several years in public accounting and becoming a licensed CPA, Jeremy returned home to Las Vegas, Nevada, to pursue his longtime goal of attending law school where he earned his J.D. degree from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. While a J.D. candidate, he was selected to serve as a staff and senior staff member of the Nevada Law Journal. Mr. Cooper began working as a law clerk for Jeffrey Burr after completing his first year of law school and has been employed by the firm ever since, during which time he has been able to assist in providing clients with a variety of valuable services in estate planning and related areas. He is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), The Nevada Society of CPAs, the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, and the Southern Nevada Estate Planning Council. DANIEL T. GERETY is the owner and president of Gerety & Associates. Mr. Gerety specializes in estate and income tax planning for individuals and businesses including structuring large transactions such as the sale and purchase of a business. He started his accounting career with McGladrey & Pullen, LLP in 1982 and became a tax partner with that firm before he left in 2004 to start his own firm. Mr. Gerety was a lead specialist for McGladrey & Pullen, LLP and RSM McGladrey, Inc. in gift and estate tax matters along with income taxation of trusts. He attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport where he obtained his B.A. degree in accounting and business administration. Among his current professional affiliations, Mr. Gerety is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a past president of the Southern Nevada Estate Planning Council and the Central Illinois Estate Planning Council. Mr. Gerety is a current member of the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants Taxation Committee. As a certified public accountant, he is allowed to practice before the IRS. Mr. Gerety has served a number of times as a Special Master to the District Court of Clark County, Nevada. He continues to lecture in Las Vegas, as well as around the country, regarding estate planning, wealth preservation and income tax planning. He is a consultant to a number of other CPA firms and law firms regarding estate and gift taxation matters, including supporting a number of attorneys as an expert witness in litigation matters regarding trust accounting issues, executive compensation, investment matters and divorce work. DAVID M. GRANT is a partner as well as the Director of Estate Planning at Jeffrey Burr. In addition to handling the estate planning needs for some of Nevada's wealthiest families, Mr. Grant also regularly speaks and writes on the topics of trusts and estates, taxation, and asset preservation. He has an AV ® Peer Review Rating from Martindale Hubble and has been named as one of Nevada's "Legal Elite" by the Nevada Business Magazine . Mr. Grant graduated from Southern Utah University, magna cum laude, with a B.S. degree in accounting, from the University of Utah with a Master of Accountancy, and from the University of Houston with his J.D. degree. He is a member of the Southern Nevada Estate Planning Council and the Society of Financial Service Professionals. Mr. Grant also served as chairman of the Roundtable Committee for the State Bar of Nevada Probate & Trust Section. He is licensed to practice law in Nevada and Utah. Before attending law school Mr. Grant worked for the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche, LLP, and as an assistant controller for Megasync Corporation. He places high priority in giving back to his community. Mr. Grant serves as vice chair of the Nevada State College Foundation Board, is a trustee for the Henderson Community Foundation, sits on the Vegas PBS Planned Giving Council and serves as founding chair of the Gift Planning Advisors. David also completed two terms as a director for the Nevada Association of Nonprofit Organizations and has served in several capacities as a youth leader for the Boy Scouts of America. ROBERT L. MORRIS is an associate as well as the lead probate and elder law attorney at Jeffrey Burr. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 2000 with a B.A. degree in International Studies (International Law and Diplomacy). In 2004 Mr. Morris graduated with distinction from the University of Nebraska with his J.D. degree. Mr. Morris is currently a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, Southern Nevada Estate Planning Counsel and the City of Henderson Chamber of Commerce. He also has been involved in the Boy Scouts of America as a youth leader. Mr. Morris has presented continuing legal education seminars through the State Bar of Nevada and the National Business Institute on the issues of estate and trust accounting, post mortem planning, probate administration, and estate planning. Mr. Morris has an AV ® Rating from Martindale Hubble and has been named as a "Mountain States Rising Star" by Super Lawyers.
