JACK P. BURDEN is a partner in the law firm of Backus Carranza & Burden and is a litigation attorney with practice emphasis in products liability, construction, premises liability, food liability and commercial litigation matters. He has been with his law firm since 2000 and has successfully defended a myriad of clients from Fortune 500 Companies, sports related entities to locally owned businesses and individuals. In 2006, Mr. Burden assisted the State Bar of Nevada's Revised Jury Instructions Committee and authored the premises liability portion of the project. CZARNIK is the owner/manager of Sierra Nurse Consultants, LLC, where she performs case screening for merit, comprehensive case review, and litigation support services for plaintiff and defense attorneys. Ms. Czarnik has 30 years of nursing experience in medical surgical, critical care, home care, administration and education. She is a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant and Lifetime Nurse Care Planner (certified). Ms. Czarnik earned her B.S.N. degree from Saint Olaf College and her M.S. degree from The Ohio State University. JENNIFER A. PARKS is owner and CEO of Parks Place Legal Nurse Consulting, LLC. In her 14 years as a Las Vegas resident, she has worked on opposing sides of healthcare delivery, working for a large health insurance provider and as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse. MELISSA PIASECKI is a professor of psychiatry at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Dr. Piasecki is a faculty with the National Judicial College and associate dean for the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development. She is certified by the Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Certification General Psychiatry, and American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Certification Forensic Psychiatry. Dr. Piasecki is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American College of Psychiatrists and American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. She also has served as an expert witness in civil and criminal cases in state, federal and military courts. Dr. Piasecki has spoken at numerous presentations for both legal professionals, medical and mental health professionals. DONNA POST is the founder of Mid-Valley Legal Nurse Consulting LLC, as well as a registered nurse. She is a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant and Nurse Care Planner Certified (NCPC). Ms. Post has 25 years of experience as a registered nurse in both clinical nursing and administrative settings. ROITMAN is a double boarded child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. In addition to his limited private practice of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology, he is a full clinical professor in the departments of psychiatry and pediatrics at UNSOM.
