LINDA A. MURPHY has been a legal assistant/paralegal since 1986 and is currently employed with the law firm of Butt, Thornton & Baehr, P.C., where she specializes in insurance defense, personal injury, and wrongful death. Her responsibilities for handling complex litigation include discovery, depositions, coordinating experts, interviewing, requesting and processing medical records, trial preparation and attendance at trial. Ms. Murphy has spoken on litigation case management for paralegals and ethics. She is also a member of the Paralegal Advisory Committee for the Legal Studies Programs at Brookline College. Ms. Murphy is the Bylaws Committee chair and Community Service chair for the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of New Mexico and has served as past chair of the division. She is a recipient of the outstanding non-lawyer contribution award from the State Bar of New Mexico. Ms. Murphy attended Woodland Hills Junior College in California. CHERYL PASSALAQUA is a litigation paralegal at Sheehan & Sheehan, P.A., primarily focusing on construction and personal injury cases. She obtained a B.A. degree in economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a paralegal certificate from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Ms. Passalaqua is a member of the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of New Mexico, and is co-chair of the Division's Brown-Bag CLE series which sponsors monthly one-hour CLEs on a variety of topics.
