JEANETTE DEANDA is a contract paralegal in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ms. DeAnda has more than 20 years of experience as a paralegal and legal administrator in the state of New Mexico and has worked on many successful, high-profile cases. She has also played an active role in case development. Her skill-set spans from inception to completion of legal actions, primarily in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury, products liability, civil rights and employment law. Ms. DeAnda is a certified mediator and has worked on countless cases through the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court as well as private businesses and individuals in the Albuquerque area for the past 20 years. As an active contributor to the development of the Legal Wellness Institute, an organization created for lawyers and staff to learn and implement a holistic approach to the practice of law through mindfulness and effective communication, she was among the presenters of this concept at the International Association for Holistic Lawyers Annual Convention at its inception. Ms. DeAnda has conducted employer/employee wellness workshops throughout the country, and is the founder and program director of the Workplace Wellness Center of New Mexico. She has been a member of the National Association of Legal Assistants, the International Association of Holistic Lawyers, and the Association of Legal Administrators. Ms. DeAnda studied at the University of New Mexico and New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics. LINDA A. MURPHY has been a legal assistant/paralegal since 1986 and is currently employed with the law firm of Butt Thornton & Baehr PC, where she specializes in insurance defense, personal injury, and wrongful death. Her responsibilities for handling complex litigation include discovery, depositions, coordinating experts, interviewing, requesting and processing medical records, trial preparation and attendance at trial. Ms. Murphy has spoken on litigation case management for paralegals and ethics. She is also a member of the Paralegal Advisory Committee for the Legal Studies Programs at Brookline College. Ms. Murphy is the Bylaws Committee chair and Community Service chair for the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of New Mexico and has served as past chair of the division. She is a recipient of the outstanding non-lawyer contribution award from the State Bar of New Mexico. Ms. Murphy attended Woodland Hills Junior College in California.
NICHOLAS M. SYDOW is an attorney with Rodey Law Firm in their Albuquerque office, where he practices in the litigation department with an emphasis on complex and high-risk litigation. Mr. Sydow represents clients in complex procedural and appellate matters, including class action litigation in both state and federal courts. He also has experience coordinating large discovery efforts in such cases, including the management and production of electronic data. Mr. Sydow earned his B.A. degree, with high honors, and his M.A. degree from Stanford University, and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where he was the Executive Editor for Solicited Articles for the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review. He is a member of the State Bar of New Mexico and the State Bar of California.
