KAREN AUBREY is a sole practitioner in Santa Fe at the Karen Aubrey Law Office. Mr. Wheir joined Modrall Sperling after serving as Deputy Chief Counsel for the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department from April 2008 to February 2010. He had a private practice in Amarillo, Texas from 1980 to 2008, where he concentrated his practice in the areas of federal income tax and estate tax and estate planning. Mr. Wheir is a member of the State Bar of New Mexico (Taxation Section) and State Bar of Texas (Taxation Section). He earned his B.S. degree from the University of San Francisco, his LL.M. degree from Southern Methodist University and his J.D. degree from Texas Tech University. VICKIE R. WILCOX is a sole practitioner with Vickie R. Wilcox, P.C., in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she practices in the areas of estate planning, tax law, probate, estate and trust administration, charitable giving, guardianships and conservatorships, and business planning. She has lectured to brokers, attorneys, accountants and others on estate planning, charitable giving, planning related to qualified retirement benefits, and legal ethics. Ms. Wilcox is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the category of tax law and in the category of trusts and estates law. She also has been honored by the Albuquerque Community Foundation, receiving the "Excellence in Charitable Gift Planning" award.
