JULIE BISHOP is a sole practitioner in Albuquerque with Bishop Law PC. She received both her B.A degree in psychology and criminology and her J.D. degree from the University of New Mexico. Prior to law school, Ms. Bishop worked with the 2nd Judicial District Court, Domestic Violence Division, where she worked closely with judges, commissioners and legislators in contributing to a statutory change to the New Mexico Family Violence Protection Act, and provided statewide training related to these changes. After law school, she joined the District Attorney's Office as a prosecutor, where she handled complex multi-case felony prosecution. Ms. Bishop is trained in family law dispute resolution, advanced mediation and collaborative law. She provides legal services in the fields of domestic relations mediation, settlement facilitation, guardian ad litem representation, divorce, domestic violence, child custody and support, property division, alimony, division of retirement funds, mediation, and issues related to same-sex relationships. Ms. Bishop is an active member of the Albuquerque Collaborative Practice Group, as well as serving as a board member of the New Mexico Collaborative Practice Group and the New Mexico Intimate Partner Violence Death Review Team. MELANIE J. RHODES is a shareholder and partner with the Albuquerque law firm of Wolf & Fox, P.C., where her areas of practice include extensive work in domestic violence laws, family law, misdemeanor criminal defense law and election law. She has spoken at many conferences regarding domestic violence law. While in law school, Ms. Rhodes authored and lobbied the first statute through the New Mexico legislature to require courts to consider domestic violence when making custody decisions. She earned her B.S. degree, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University and her J.D. degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law. While there, Ms. Rhodes received the Atkinson and Kelsey Award for excellence in family law. SAMUEL ROLL, Ph.D, ABPP, is a Professor Emeritus in the department of psychology and psychiatry and is also an adjunct professor for the University of New Mexico School of Law. Since 1970, he has taught graduate seminars in cognitive assessment, personality assessment, psychoanalytic theory, psychotherapy and personality and undergraduate courses in introductory psychology, developmental psychology and the psychology of adjustment. He is licensed in the state of New Mexico and a diplomat in clinical and forensic psychology. Mr. Roll also was responsible for training of non-professional workers for a crisis center and supervision of psychiatry residents. Mr. Roll is also a consultant to the Office of the District Attorney, the Public Defender and Albuquerque Public Schools. He received his B.A. degree from Louisiana State University and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Roll is a member of the American Psychological Association and the New Mexico Psychological Association. He is an instructor at the Instituto de Salud Mental Pyschoanalytic Training Center in Monteray, Mexico. BRIAN L. SHOEMAKER has been a practicing attorney for 20 years with a strong emphasis in divorce and family law. He has been trained in a variety of advocacy schools and has conducted in excess of 60 trials in federal courts and courts throughout New Mexico. He frequently lectures, presents and trains other professionals locally and internationally. Mr. Shoemaker earned his B.A. degree from Brigham Young University and his J.D. degree from Willamette College of Law, from where he also obtained a certificate in dispute resolution. He is a member of the State Bar of New Mexico. He was a former active duty and then reserve JAG lawyer in the U.S. Army. During his time as an Army lawyer, he was trained in an 80 hour course on domestic abuse and thereafter served on a multi-disciplinary council handling all reported cases of abuse on that installation. In addition to litigating cases, Mr. Shoemaker conducts a significant portion of his divorce case load both as a Mediator and as a Collaborative practitioner. He serves on The Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee for the State Bar of New Mexico. He is a member and former committee member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, as well as a member, former board member, president and trainer with the state and local Collaborative Practice groups. He first became a certified mediator in 1988.
