January 24 - Princeton PHILLIP C. BAUKNIGHT is an associate of Porzio, Bromberg & Newman, P.C., and a member of the firm's Commercial and Complex Torts Practice groups. He concentrates his practice in the areas of school law, employment and labor law, and general commercial litigation. He earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Rutgers University in New Brunswick and his J.D. degree from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark, where he was an executive member of the Moot Court Board. Currently, he is a member of the Garden State Bar Association and a Steering Committee member of the firm's Diversity Inclusive network. MARIE-LAURENCE FABIAN is of counsel to the law firm of Porzio, Bromberg & Newman, P.C. in Morristown, New Jersey, practicing primarily in the area of school law. She works with numerous public school districts and private schools throughout New Jersey. Ms. Fabian counsels her school law clients on a daily basis regarding the myriad issues they face, including student rights and responsibilities, employee rights and responsibilities, student discipline, employee discipline, and special education law and procedure. Ms. Fabian earned her B.A. degree from Barnard College and her J.D. degree from Seton Hall School of Law. ALISON KENNY practices general school law at the law firm of Schwartz Simon Edelstein & Celso LLC, with an emphasis on special education law. She taught general and special education as a New York public school teacher prior to becoming an attorney. Ms. Kenny's responsibilities include representation before the Office of Administrative Law; the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey; and the New Jersey Department of Education, Office of Special Education Services & Schools. She is licensed to practice law in New Jersey, before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and in New York. Ms. Kenny earned her B.S. degree from Bucknell University, her M.Ed. degree from Vanderbilt University and her J.D. degree from the University of Richmond School of Law. JENNA ROTTENBERG is an attorney with Schwartz Simon Edelstein & Celso LLC as an education attorney. She concentrates in general board of education representation, including student residency hearings, executive session briefings, and general legal guidance relative to personnel and board of education oversight. Ms. Rottenberg interned at the Community Health Law Project in South Orange, New Jersey, where she gained experience with disability law and advocating with persons with disabilities. While in law school, she gained valuable research experience under the direction of Professor Lewis Raveson in the area of tort law and jury awards. Ms. Rottenberg is licensed to practice in New Jersey and before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. She earned her B.A. degree from Pennsylvania State University, University Park and her J.D. degree from Rutgers Law School. KERRI A. WRIGHT is an attorney in the law firm of Porzio, Bromberg & Newman, P.C. in Morristown, New Jersey, practicing in the areas of school law, labor and employment law, and commercial litigation. She works with numerous school districts and private schools throughout New Jersey. Ms. Wright has worked on several precedent-setting cases for the firm's school board clients, including the precedent-setting defense of the new school tax apportionment formula for the Manchester Regional High School district, following the Supreme Court's edict, and the historic severance of a decades-old sending-receiving relationship between the Newfield Board of Education and the Buena Regional Board of Education. Ms. Wright also is an elected member of the Chester Board of Education in Morris County. She earned her B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University; her master's degree from Seton Hall University; and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Emory University. January 25 - Newark DR. ROBIN S. BALLARD is an attorney with Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP and is a member of the firm's school law labor and employment practice group. She represents statewide private and public school districts in all facets of special education law, including evaluations, eligibility, program development and placement determinations, dispute resolution with parents, and disciplinary matters. Dr. Ballard regularly attends IEP meetings and mediations conducted through the Department of Education, as well as appearing before the Office of Administrative Law for emergent and plenary hearings. She also has conducted training for employees of boards of education on effective strategies for dealing with difficult situations and effective communication with parents. Dr. Ballard serves as a guest instructor at St. Elizabeth College for school administrators who are pursuing their doctoral degrees. She has been a speaker for the New Jersey Association of School Administrators, as well as the Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Dr. Ballard earned her B.A. degree from Johns Hopkins University; her M.A. degree from Widener University; her Psy.D. degree from Widener University; and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Widener University School of Law. JOSEPH L. ROSELLE is an attorney with the law firm of Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP, where he concentrates his practice in the areas of education law and public sector labor relations. Mr. Roselle represents boards of education in all aspects of school law, including general education matters, student and personnel issues, and labor and employment law claims. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and is a member of the American, National Italian American and Morris County bar associations, as well as the Young Professionals Committee of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Roselle regularly appears before the Office of Administrative Law, Commissioner of Education, Public Employment Relations Commission, and state and federal courts in his representation of school districts. In addition, he has extensive experience in advising clients with respect to student and employee rights, residency issues and tenure matters. Mr. Roselle earned his B.S. degree from Rutgers College and his J.D. degree from Rutgers School of Law. PHILIP E. STERN is a founding member of Adams Stern Gutierrez & Lattiboudere, LLC in Newark, New Jersey, where he practices in labor and employment law, with an emphasis in education. He is a frequent speaker on labor and employment issues in education. Mr. Stern is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association (member, Labor and Employment Law Section). He is a recent president of the Board of Directors of the North American Association of Educational Negotiators. Mr. Stern earned his B.A. degree from Wesleyan University, his J.D. degree from New York Law School and his M.A. degree from Montclair State University.
