LINDA S. ERSHOW-LEVENBERG is a partner (member) with the firm Fink Rosner Ershow-Levenberg LLC in Clark, New Jersey. Her practice concentrates in elder law, including planning, litigation and administration. Social Security disability appeals; Medicaid planning, applications and appeals; Veterans Compensation appeals; estate planning, and litigated estate and trust matters are all part of her practice. Ms. Ershow-Levenberg has been certified (C.E.L.A.) in elder law since 1999 by the National Elder Law Foundation, the accrediting body which is recognized by the New Jersey Supreme Court and the American Bar Association. She is the co-author of the LexisNexis Practice Guide: New Jersey Elder Law, first published in 2008 with annual updates. Ms. Ershow-Levenberg has also published articles on elder and disability law in Aspatore Books' Inside the Minds: Leading Lawyers on Best Practices for Long-Term Care Planning & Nursing Home Protection (March, 2011), the Marquette Elder's Advisor, NAELA News, New Jersey Lawyer Newspaper, New Jersey Lawyer Magazine, and other professional publications for attorneys, and is a frequent lecturer on elder law issues to professional and community groups. She is a past chairman of the New Jersey State Bar Association's Elder & Disability Law Section and past chairman of the Union County Bar Association's Elder Law Committee. Ms. Ershow-Levenberg is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, was the AARP Representative on the Governor's Long-term Care Funding Advisory Council from 2008-2009, and is a member of the Editorial Board of New Jersey Lawyer Magazine. She argued before the New Jersey Supreme Court on behalf of amicus curiae N.J. Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys in In re Keri, the seminal case on Medicaid planning by Guardians, for which she received an Appreciation Award from the Guardianship Association of New Jersey (GANJI). Ms. Ershow-Levenberg received her B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Douglass College, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and her J.D. degree from Rutgers Law School-Newark. Ms. Ershow-Levenberg was admitted to the bar in 1984; clerked for the late Honorable Lawrence Lasser, Chief Judge of the New Jersey Tax Court; and has been in practice in New Jersey since 1985. MARY E. SCRUPSKI is counsel to the firm of Greenberg, Dauber, Epstein & Tucker, located in Newark, New Jersey. With more than 20 years experience, she advises clients on a wide variety of estate, trust related and elder law matters. Her clients range from individuals with special needs children to business owners seeking to transfer their businesses to the next generation in the most tax and cost effective means possible. She also has extensive experience in the area of estate and trust administration. Having served as an executor and trustee herself, she can advise clients, both individuals and institutions, based on knowledge and experience. She is a frequent lecturer for community organizations on estate and trust issues, and an instructor for continuing legal education providers. She is a frequent contributor to the "Ask the Biz Brain" column in The Star-Ledger. She is a member of the Estate and Financial Planning Council of Central New Jersey and a former treasurer and board member of SAGE, a senior services organization located in Summit, New Jersey. DONALD D. VANARELLI is a certified elder law attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, an ABA-certifying organization. He represents older or disabled persons and their representatives with various issues, including financing long-term care, nursing home issues, qualifying for Medicaid and other public benefits, special needs planning, guardianship proceedings, estate planning and probate matters. Mr. Vanarelli has been approved as an accredited professional mediator in civil, equity and probate litigation and is a co-founder of the Elder Mediation Center of New Jersey. He is a trained collaborative law practitioner and also a registered guardian. Mr. Vanarelli is also accredited by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to represent veterans in their claims for VA benefits. He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and New York. Mr. Vanarelli served as chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association Elder and Disability Law Section in 2010/2011, and is a member of the Union County Elder Law Committee and the National Guardianship Association. He is a past chair of the Somerset County Elder Law Committee and past secretary of the New Jersey Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Mr. Vanarelli was selected by a survey of his peers as a New Jersey Super Lawyer in 2007 - 2011. He is a graduate of Montclair State College and Rutgers Law School. Mr. Vanarelli served as law clerk to Hon. Herbert S. Alterman, J.S.C. Before becoming an attorney, he worked for the Social Security Administration, deciding claims for benefits under the Social Security disability, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicare and Medicaid programs. He also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kathmandu, Nepal. JOHN A. ZUCKER is a partner in the firm of Rose & Zucker, LLC in Bayonne. Mr. Zucker focuses his practice in the areas of estate planning, elder law, disability law, special needs planning, trusts, public benefits, guardianships, asset protection, real estate and land use. He is an active member of the New Jersey State Bar Association Section on Elder Law and NAELA, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Mr. Zucker is a frequent lecturer on a variety of topics focusing on elder law and disability law and has spoken before community organizations and professional societies. Mr. Zucker received his bachelor's degree from Cornell University and his law degree from George Washington University School of Law. After passing the bar, he traveled to the newly-liberated Czechoslovak capital of Prague and worked as legal advisor to a start-up frozen foods company. Upon his return to the United States, he served for four years as a legislative aide in the U.S. House of Representatives to Congressman Tom Lantos. His areas of responsibility included advising Congressman Lantos on matters before the Committee on Government Reform and Oversight, the Committee on the Judiciary, and the Committee on Foreign Affairs. In 1997, he moved to the New York metropolitan area to serve as counselor to the chairman of the Anti-Defamation League, an international human rights and civil rights organization. In 2003, he joined Rose & Rose in Bayonne and developed the elder law practice for the firm.
